  • Day 2 of Atkins Intro

    Hello everyone,

I'm a 30 year old female living in LA. I've always struggled with my weight, but since moving to America (6 years ago) I've put on a whopping 140 lbs. I guess the fact that everything is so convenient here and I rarely have to get out of my car doesn't help, but ultimately I know its my fault. I'm married (no kids yet) and very happily in love, but there is one thing that is weighing me down and that’s my weight. My husband loves me no matter what and that's amazing, but things are starting to become harder for me to do and clothes are nearly impossible, so after a visit to the Dr, this program was suggested to me.

So, I'm on Day 2 of the Induction phase... I'm planning on keeping on this phase for 4 weeks (instead of the standard 2) at which point I'll be heading back to the Dr for a check in on my progress. So far I think I'm doing pretty well. I feel completely different already just after the first day. I think some of it might be to do with the fact that I'm taking mulitivimins, calcium and omega 3 suppliments for the first time as well as the fact that me and my husband did a 2 mile walk last night. I really felt good afterwards. I'm looking forward to continuing on my journey, but I do have some questions and am so glad to find this website to help me along the way.

    Thanks for listening

          Welcome!

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.

Thanks so much! I will definitely take a look at the websites, thank you. It's great to know the support is out there

Regarding the multivitamin, my Dr reccommended Centrum Silver - is that okay? I'm also taking Calcium and Omega 3.

Centrum Silver is fine ... or the generic.

Remember that you are changing many things in your life all at once. There will be ups and downs and you cannot look at this from a micro perspective. Keep the big picture in mind and do not fret over the little ups and downs. Its a great WOE (Way of Eating) and a great WOL (Way of Living)

Thank you so much - I really appreciate that! It's Day 3 and I'm already feeling so much better. I walked another 2 miles last night so that's 4 miles this week. Might not sound a lot to some, but I haven't been active in a REALLY long time. I wouldn't have been able to do it if I wasn't eating better so I'm very pleased. Thanks for the support!
