  • Back again...

Hi there, kind of new to the forum. I joined a long while ago but never went with Atkins...well kind of.

At one point many years ago I weighed in at 279. It was the highest I had ever been and I decided it was time for a change. I decided to count calories and it worked great for me. It took several months and I was able to get down to 189 and a size 36 pant which was my goal. I am 6'0" by the way. Counting calories was very hard. I was always hungry but I willed my way there.

Fast forward a few years. I had worked my way back to 213 and decided to drop some weight. I started Atkins (when I initially joined this forum) and quickly went back to 199 in just 2 weeks. To be honest I kind of go sick of having no carbs.

Fast forward to now. I noticed my clothes fitting tighter. I decided to jump on the scale and was like OMG. I am up to 222. My highest in years. I have decided to go through with Atkins for real this time and follow the plan. So I am just stopping in to say hi and look forward to the advice given here.

You shouldn't have "no carbs" on Atkins. Even on Induction, which is the most restrictive part, you should be eating over half of your daily net carbs from vegetables. The closer you are to 20 net carbs, the more likely it is to get good nutrition... which is what Atkins is also about.

And you do realize that Atkins has four phases, right?

I have decided to go through with Atkins for real this time and follow the plan.
Are you reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

Yes I understand you have some carbs. I eat a salad everyday. The dressing is 1g of carb as well. I also mix in some broccoli and green beans in limited quanities. I am not sure of the version of the book I have. I will need to take a look.

The 2002 DANDR explains what is (IMHO) the best longterm version of Atkins. No wonder you haven't stayed with it if you havent learned how to reintroduce other foods properly. Try it again and this time advance through OWL so that you end up with a low carb plan you can live with long term.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
