Hi....I'm a 39 year old wife and mom. I haven't lost my "baby weight" yet and my son is 20 months. I've definitely been ready to do this. 3 weeks ago I let someone talk me into doing the Mayo Grapfruit diet, where you can only 3 times a day, same thing for breakfast and of course drink the grapefruit. Well, I lost 3 lbs initially, which I'm convinced was water only. Then I realized how many carbs the grapefruit has and it made no sense to me why I had to drink it 3 times a day. Long story short, I then decided to start Atkins 2 weeks ago. So 4 days into that, I lost 2.5 lbs. So in 2 1/2 weeks I lost 5 lbs. That I'm very satisfied with. However the last 10 days the scale didn't move and I started to look at what I consumed. Soda with Aspartame...Read I should probably stay away from. But I used it for my "sweet" fix. Now I have to admit I didn't buy the book.
My biggest confusion is... do I have to watch my meat portions and fat or not? I've read your body doesn't know the difference between consumed fat and your body fat and something about it will burn the consumed fat. Should I only then stick to the chickenbreast instead of pork chops after all? It's not like I'm going crazy on the fatty meats, but I try to spice it up by switching between them all. Yet, I read if you try a low fat version, it will not work............?
Thanks for any helpful comments. BTW, I haven't "knowingly" cheated, as in no alcohol, caffeine or sneak something in. Unless I snuck in hidden carbs but I've carefully read al labels. For example, I did have bratwurst one night but because they were 2 g a link, I omitted my veggie carbs. Is that a no no???
