  • New to Atkins - wanting to lose LBS for Wedding

    Hello all

My partner and i have just started induction (day 2) - we both want to lose weight for our wedding in August. I need to lose 2+ stone ideally and my fiance wants to lose 1 - 1.5 stone!

Wondering how much we could expect to lose in the first 2 weeks! I have read you can lose 15lb - that would be a dream come true as i would love to try some Wedding Gowns on and feel to fat and ugly too

I have tried WW and failed even though i followed to diet properly and excercised! I was lucky to lose 1lb a week and sometime stuck so frustrating when your friend is consistantly losing 3lb pw!!! I have just restarted my excercise! I am jogging outside (or trying too) now the weather is better

Also i hope i can get some tips for QUICK uncooked breakfast - to much of a time struggle to keep cooking in the mornings!!

    Welcome to the board.

A lb per week is pretty normal even on Atkins after you get past induction unless you have a lot to loose. If you are expecting huge results you will probably be disappointed. Better to focus on getting healthier than getting a certain # of pounds off in a set amount of time.

      Thank you for your reply!

I just would love to kick start my weight loss on induction - afterwards i would be happy to lose 1-2lb pw but less i would be disappointed as i am so missing carbs and juice already!!!!

Goodluck with your continued loss x

We never know what we will lose. What we really need it sticking power because if we follow the rules and eat veggies and plenty of water it will work. but in a relative way you do not have that much to lose and it is not reasonable to expect to lose 50% of it in the first two weeks. We often talk about 10% weightloss as good in induction.I hope you have great success and congrats on your upcoming wedding. Exciting
For a quick breakfast I would recommend making crustless quish that you can warm up easily.

Here are a bunch of crustless quiche recipes. Linda Sue's site also has a lot of other wonderful recipes, menu suggestions and other helpful items.

I do understand Atkins isn't a quick fix but i would be chuffed to get a kick start on induction and then follow OWL - i have been struggling to lose weight for a long while now and i have reached that point in time where i think enough is enough and want to just get the LBS off asap!! I am exercising too so hopefully i'll see some good results!

Mizsky - thankyou for the links i will have a read xx

Liv - do you mean 10% of what i want to lose?? So about 2lb!!! Or of my whole weight?? If i am suffering with breakfasts for 2lb i would be really sad lol

Goodluck to everybody - and thank you all for advise whether i've liked it or not tee hee - seriously though a big thank you to you all x

Believe me once you get close to goal weight 2lbs is great and as long as you know it is downward trend it is all good.
I know that is easy to feel that this diet is like a punishment right now but some day it may be second nature to have a couple of wholesome nutrinious eggs for breakfast
Hope you are having a great day

Good to hear. I assume you're planning on doing Atkins after the wedding?

                  >>want to just get the LBS off asap!>>

Remember, Atkins isn't about "asap" weight loss though.

Liv does mean 10% of total weightloss.

Are you reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

Why are you suffering with breakfasts?

And having only 25 pounds to lose, your rate of loss will probably be slower than will make you happy.

Liv - yes 2lb pw would be great but i'd love more on induction!! Hoping i might muster a little more than 2 pound on induction! 2 eggs for breakfast is great but on toast to mop the yolk hahaha and not everyday!!!! I am having a good day thank you for your post xx

J, Yes i want to continue after our wedding - i feel it is a good diet for type 2 diabetes - i haven't got this but i am high risk of it - close family history and i had GD (gestational diabetes)

I've got these books - New Atkins New You & The illustrated Atkins New Diet Cookbook!

Breakfast - its just meat and eggs (i love eggs but i am getting fed up with them - hard boiled, scambled and omlette already since i've started) i just don't fancy it at all and i hate warming food through - i'd love a shake or something - i also have very limited time in the morning!! I want something quick easy and no cooking and not meat - any ideas!!??

Thank you again - i do appreciate your thoughts x

I had left over cold chicken wings for breakfast today dipped in my homemade blue cheese dressing
have you checked out the cream cheese muffing. (also known as the mock Danish) it is usually a popular breakfast

You should also try to have some vegetable at all your meals.
