  • Looking to Hit the Ground Running

From the title, that is exactly what I am trying to do.

Have yet to read the 02 edition but have read multiple others along with a massive amount of threads, blogs, posts and informative pages providing me with a lot of data about the program.

Being as though I am Italian and eat mostly Italian/Spanish food, this will be an extreme change in eating habits for me. I usually dont eat veggies or fruit anyway so that wont be an issue.

I'm looking for help with loosing the Most amount of lbs in the Smallest amount of time. No I'm not just a hit and runner, I have decided and am willing to commit to this program. So I am looking for what some would call the Hardest way to do the "Approach" thus yielding the best possible results.

    Thanks for listening

    Welcome Caesar!

There is no easiest way to loose the most amount of weight in the least amount of time. This board follows the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution and no others.

Read the book, follow the plan strictly and you'll loose weight. Plan your meals a few days in advance so you have everything needed in your kitchen. Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food listhttp://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/.
Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise. Keep track of what you are eating and quantities with one of the free programs online - personally I use www.fitday.com, after trying a few this is the one I liked best. Also you can start a journal to keep track of yourself and meet others.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
    Carole

Why won't that be an issue?

Atkins is all about the vegetables.

Are you sure your information about doing Atkins is correct?

You will need to eat vegetables every day.

Re: Looking to Hit the Ground Running

I'm looking for the "hardest" way to do the diet that would hopefully have the best results just to clarify.

I am a 26 year old male with way too many carbs in his house. I've removed all rice, pasta, veggies, fruits and carbonated drinks from my house. I've replace them with bags of frozen Chicken breast, frozen Tilapia, frozen Tuna fillets and frozen Flounder. Also I bought in bulk of canned Solid Albacore Tuna and Ground Beef and about 20 1gallon jugs of water to start with.

As far as seasoning the meat.. I got only spices that say no carbs, hot sauce, jalepenos, mayo and mustard mostly.

As I said I am a 26 year old Male. I eat to live, not live to eat. So taste is really something im not too concerned with.

Hope I'm off to At Least a Good Start

Yes, vegetables. Lots of them. MOST of your daily net carbs are from acceptable vegetables.

I've read the 01 edition some time ago. Most recently I've been researching the program for the last month. I've read you can have up to and including 20g of carbs daily. Nothing that said it was mandatory. And most veggies are loaded with carbs. And since I'm a failure in math, I'd figure just not even risk it.

yes I have read correctly and have also read those 2 pages you provided. Nothing that said veggies/salad were mandatory.. Only that you could optionally eat those certain ones.

All spices have carbs... unless you're talking about salt.

Yes, vegetables are mandatory on Atkins starting from day 1... and after Induction you should be adding even more of them.

This program may not be for me then
If you are looking for a lifestyle change that doesn't ask one to eat vegetables, I doubt you will find a healthy one.

Why aren't you willing to eat vegetables?

I'm assuming that was the 1999 edition. That plan included vegetables, too.

Most recently I've been researching the program for the last month. I've read you can have up to and including 20g of carbs daily. Nothing that said it was mandatory.
You should really read the book instead of reading random stuff online. That will help you understand the program, if you want to follow Atkins.

And most veggies are loaded with carbs.
If your veggies are potatoes, then yes. However, if you are eating vegetables on the Acceptable Foods List, they are not "loaded with carbs".

And since I'm a failure in math, I'd figure just not even risk it.
You don't have to be a math genius to add a few numbers. You can find nutritional info in the USDA database:

or you can use FitDay to track your foods:

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

You'll need to subtract dietary fiber from carbohydrates to get net carbs.

If you read the (whole) book, you would have seen what Dr. Atkins' opinion was about vegetables and why they are mandatory.

You would have also known that OWL Rung 1 involves adding more vegetables to your menu.

I'm looking for the "hardest" way to do the diet that would hopefully have the best results
If that's what you're really looking for, then you should eat vegetables. Atkins isn't only about weight loss, but also about improved health.

It appears so.. the Garlic Powder sticker lied to me by saying it has 0g of Carbs.

I never said I wouldnt eat veggies long term.. Just initially. I need to lose body fat rapidly as if I don't then it will affect my ability to join the services. So I'm kind of on a time schedule window that is closing more each day that goes by. So with that being said, I don't have any time to risk leaving the ketosis stage

You won't "leave the ketosis stage" if you eat vegetables and follow the Rules of Induction.
