I honestly havn't made that decision yet.. Right now I am thinking short-term. And that would be until my enlist date. I gotta make weight or else. I was told by my girlfriend to do the atkins. It was either that or Fasting which I will resort to if this doesn't work for me.
Do you think fasting will give you long term results? Do you think your health will benefit from it?
If you follow Atkins correctly, you will lose weight. However, if you have a deadline for weight loss (do you?), then you might not make it. Your body will lose at its own pace.
That's for the weight loss part.
Now, if you want to learn how to maintain your weight as well as the health benefits of Atkins, then you need to progress through all the phases of Atkins (Induction, OWL, Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance).
"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
And at your weight, you should be drinking about 127 ounces of water per day. Not including sparking. That's almost a gallon.
As to your feeling you've been getting "negative feedback" ... well, you've been given the feedback you needed.
If anyone had come here with what you wrote, they would have received the same "feedback".
The goal here is to help people succeed. And someone who started off with what you wrote, well, you needed to get on the correct path, sooner rather than later.
What's the ingredients in the tilapia?
Not that you can do anything about it now, but why did you buy meat that has 12% solution of anything? Why are you paying meat prices for "solution"?
Why don't you drink tap water? You could buy a Brita or Pur filter.
Now on to today:
What's your meal plan for today?
Tomorrow?

Caesar, there's no reason why you can't go ahead and start your induction while the book is on order, lots of people do that. Just make sure you read the two links: the induction legal foods and the rules of induction.
A couple of things that really helped me in induction: using Fitday.com to track my food. With all the yummy meat you are planning to consume, you may back your system up if you don't make sure to eat more than half of your net carbs in veggies. It will do the counting for you, you will just need to enter in what you ate.
You are welcome here, this board is just very exact about the advice we give out so as not to stumble those who are here for the long haul. DANDR 2002 works and those who stick it out and follow it as closely as they can do find good results for life. Most of the people here are wanting a life-change so that's where the advice is coming from. Hang in there and have a good day.

That won't be a problem.. I love water.

All i figured was if it said 0g of carbs then that's just what it was. I will be more observant of the "ingredients" next time I trip to the grocery.

I live in a desolute area where our water runs on a well system. Even with those faucet filters the water still smells of spoiled eggs. I've been drinking gallon'd spring water for some years now.

You might not wanna know what my meal plan was for today.. lol
Because I told myself this will be my last Sunday dinner eating carb filled foods. It was italian of course with meat marinara. I will also have my last taste of alcohol tonight. But starting midnight tonight.. I will be entering the induction phase.
from midnight will be nothing but spring water. For breakfast I was thinking of maybe scrambled eggs mixed with water not milk. With maybe bacon on the side.
lunch will probly consist of a few slices of cold cut and maybe a few handfuls of lettuce.
snack has yet to be determined. If any at all.
And dinner will be 1 or 2 fillets of fish with a side of green beans (fresh but cooked)
Sound good?

I've looked into fitday and will be downloading the PC version. Someone else recommended it as well. Thanks you both for the link. Looks like it will be very useful to what I am trying to do.
As far as the system backing up. I have purchased pills for that. These are from the shelf at Walmart and are called ColonClenz. Please refer to the pic and let me kno if this will violate the atkins approach.
Also I take a 500mg Niacin pill and a Omega 3-6-9 Complex pill on a regular basis. Can I proceed with these through the approach or will I have to quit these.

That sentence was like a breath of fresh, purified air. I agree with the board being very exact.. getting down to .05g and stuff. But hey like i said earlier.. I'm serious, I'm ready and i'm gonna commit and do it.
If you ordered from amazon already, it's a snap to cancel an order if you just did it today.
No need to be sorry, we are all learning here....well except the seasoned people who have been doing this for years! But seriously, most of us here are still learning how to do things right. It's like boot camp at first, then after we get some knowledge under our belts, it's much much easier.
Since you bought your food before you did all your homework, you most likely didn't pay attention to this line:
**Processed meats, such as ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami, hot dogs and other luncheon meats and some fish may be cured with added sugar and will contribute carbs. Try to avoid meat and fish products cured with nitrates, which are known carcinogens.
which is in the book and in one of the links given to you previously.
Now, many people don't give up cold cuts, many people limit them severely, and some don't eat them at all.
To me, they're not a good choice, unless you can find ones without sugar (Boar's Head) or nitrate free (most likely at a store like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's).
Just know that what you've got isn't ideal.
And next time you can make a better choice.
