    Hi
I've just started my second day of Induction. I've actually got at least 50lbs :yikes to lose, things have got out of control since I had a hysterectomy two years ago, and a Gall Bladder removal two years before that. After the latter, my doctor told me I'd never lose weight - has anyone else lost weight on any diet after Gall bladder removal or do I just need to change my doctor?!
So far it's going great, there are just a couple of little things I'd like to ask about..
Is it possible to use a little semi skimmed milk instead of cream in coffee, I'm really not a cream fan and it's always made me feel sick - if it's not possible I guess I'll have to take it black- also would a couple of cups of tea in the afternoon (with the aforementioned semi skimmed) do me any real harm? I honestly don't drink much, three cups a day max.
These are the only real drawbacks as far as I can see so far. I've always tried the "starvation" method of dieting before (many years ago I used to suffer from bulimia). I'm not much of a big eater, people are always surprised how little I eat for my size, I've realised it was WHAT I was eating that was the problem, not how much.
It's bliss to find a diet that lets you eat cheese too!
This is a great site, I'm going to put some time together this afternoon so I can go through it thoroughly, but a big thank you to all who have put it together, I have a husband who is very anti low carb diets so it's great to find some support elsewhere.
    Many thanks

We are the Mighty Super Bees and we're going up next season!
Who are the super bees? (football or rugby)?

I'm a hammer myself and having beaten Ipswich last night, we could be going up also!!!!!!

(btw, as a fellow Englander, I would like to welcome you to ADBB. I hope you find it useful.)

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

      Welcome to the board, Squeaker!

I hope you find this place as motivating and inspiring as I have. The people here are amazingly supportive. You might try posting your gall bladder question in another forum, not everyone comes into the intro forum. Maybe the main forum or one of the medical forums. I'm sure we have someone here who has gone through what you have medically.

      Good luck!
      Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

So happy to see you join our ADBB family. I can relate to your husband being ANTI-Low carb. Most of my family were like that when I began and some still are. The important thing is to get healthy and feel good about yourself. You will soon be having so much more energy and showing by example that your Low-carb way of eating is a zillion ways better than eating a lot of bread, pasta and sugar.

Make sure you read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002 and follow the Dr.'s advice. exercise, take supplements and drink lots of water. The ADBB is full of advice, support and motivation to help you so that you never feel that you are alone in your weight loss.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress!!

Thanks to everyone who has sent welcome replies. I'll certainly keep you all posted on my progress. Day three today - I still can't believe I'm on a diet - for me the word "diet" has always meant, cotage cheese, ryvitas and general starvation. I'm struggling to get used to eating in the mornings as it always used to be just a cup of coffee for me. The headaches that I had for the last two days has gone - not sure that was atkins tho, as it began after the first omlette! But I feel fine and for the first time am really enthusiatic about a diet - can't believe it!

                    Hi !!

Alwasy nice to greet a newbie from the UK ...

Don't worry about your husband being anti-atkins ..... he will soon come round.... Once he realises that you are much 'nicer' to him once you see the weight coming off he will suddenly get VERY supportive just like my husband did!!!

Switch to a good quality decaf-coffee asap, it makes a difference. It took me a while, but ive cut out coffee altogether now, even the decaf...

Thanks bambina- yes, I'm on decaf already- I had a caffiene intolerance a while back and couldn't tolerate it without rushing to the loo ten times a day - I'm still sneaking the odd cup of tea - but I don't drink many hot drinks anyway which is why drinking the water has been the easist part for me.
I've kept my husband quiet, he still mutters from time to time, but he knows to keep quiet or he's in bother :raving or I won't stop yapping at him!
