    Re: Re-induction

Hi, Blueberrylady. Yes, I am feeling a LOT better today.

And in spite of eating over 2000 calories yesterday, it is one of those mornings when I looked in the mirror and I just look a lot thinner! So that really has me pumped about keeping the calories down today.

Well, here in northwest Georgia we still may have some cold nights yet. So everything I've planted can stand some cold.

I did buy tomato and pepper plants yesterday, but will plant them in earth boxes that I can cover with plastic and place a light bulb under if we do get another freeze. And should they not make it, I will just buy replacements. Just couldn't resist getting them!

So today I will be playing in the garden again.

I do really feel for you waiting out the cold... and snow. I don't think I could stand any more cold this year. But cheer up... warm weather WILL come.

Carole, I love starting things from seed, but there are some things I always buy plants for... like tomatoes and peppers. Beans, greens, and lettuces and other salad veggies seem to do well from seed. And the greens and salad veggies can take cooler temperatures. The beans and warm weather veggies shouldn't be planted outside before May 1 here.

We have to buy a new lawn mower this year. Our old one started needing such frequent repairs we have just decided to get a new one. We plan to do that after the first of the month.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

      Re: Re-induction

I had an excellent day today! Total today was 15 carbs and 1300 calories, and I feel happy and satisfied.

I woke up feeling so good this morning. So the first thing I did was my light upper body workout. Then this afternoon I worked out in the garden for almost 4 hours.

I got two more beds ready to plant... one flower bed and my bean bed. I got compost, fertilizer and water retaining crystals worked in. Then I planted the strawberries, romaine lettuce, and 50 gladiolus bulbs.

Two of my berry bushes didn't make it, so I will have to replace those. However, the other two are doing great.

I thought I had bought a bag of 50 gladiolus bulbs, but discovered it is 90 instead. So tomorrow I will have to find a good place for the other 40.

I am tired... but the nicest kind of tired that guarantees I will sleep like a rock tonight.

        Re: Re-induction

Good for you Sunny -- I'm tired tonight also, I spent 3 hours in the garage but it is clean enough to live and eat out there! Every inch of me hurts but it's a good hurt!

Glad you felt well enough to go outside and work in your gardens. Tomorrow I want to get mine turned over (should have done it in the Fall but was sick)...then get more soil and some good fertilizer put in it...hope it doesn't rain!

We are still getting snow, rain, cold, grrrrr.... I don't think I'm going to do a garden this year as I may be sent to Southern California to work this summer.. Its not for sure, but I never turn down money..

            Re: Re-induction

Carole, kudus to you for tackling that garage and taming it! I bet you are so proud of it! I would be!!!

I didn't get my garden turned over last fall because we were focused on camping and headed for Florida instead. I wasn't sure I was going to have a garden this year, but glad I decided to do it. I feel so satisfied and productive when I work in it.

Ugh, DT. Snow, rain, cold.... definitely not gardening weather.

Do you enjoy traveling and working different places? Is the possibility of going to California a good thing for you?

My tomatoes and two kinds of peppers took a hit from the cold last night. I didn't think it was going to be cold enough to have to protect them. The ancho and green bell peppers were fatally damaged. The red bell pepper still looks great. I wouldn't have expected it to be more cold tolerant than the others.

The sky is pink this morning, so it may rain. We will see.

I am still holding at my whooshie number. The scale hasn't budged up or down. But I am so thrilled to be holding there that I'm not upset. Am hoping for another small drop by the end of the induction period. I'm on Day 11 today.

Hope all of you have a good day today!

They are gorgeous!!!!!!!! Is that your place? It's just fall-down beautiful!

                What a lovely little gift!

                    Re: Re-induction

I'd rather not write about yesterday. I was sick with the cold and the tonsil infection, felt terrible, very irritable, and frustrated because I am always, always hungry.

So I overindulged. No off-Atkins carbs, but too much permitted food and an Endulge bar. Just poor choices all around.

The scale was kind to me. I was only up 1/2 pound this morning.

So I have spent all last night and this morning rethinking my WOE.

My main problem is that I always feel hungry when I keep my calories low enough to lose weight. And I can only stand the feeling of hunger so long.

So today I am planning to eat until I am satisfied all day and see what my calories work out to and go from there.

Today after lunch I am up to 1150 calories and 10 carbs already, but I DON'T FEEL HUNGRY!

                      Ah, the bliss!

I made an Atkins pizza for the first time today and had two slices for lunch.

                        Re: Re-induction

I've been thinking all day about what could be causing the hunger. I stay in ketosis with all the signs and the strips confirming it, so there shouldn't be hunger.

I am starting to believe that it is the Splenda. So I am going to leave it entirely alone and see if that makes a difference.

I have not had any Splenda since breakfast, and I do not feel hungry now. So hope this proves to be the answer!

That's interesting Sunny One. Why don't you try liquid Splenda and see if it does the same for you?

I do use liquid Splenda... actually liquid sucralose. I got it so I wouldn't get the carbs in the packets.

Sunny -- when I feel hungry I grab meat & mayo -- that always does it for me...it only takes an ounce of meat to curb the hunger monster. Another thing is veggies -- maybe some colored pepper strips or a few pieces of raw zucchini, broccoli or cauliflower? Just a suggestion.

Glad you were able to get back on track after your nasty sick day....I'm just praying I don't get sick again - I literally stopped losing when I got sick and I'm hopefully losing now that I'm back on induction.

                                Re: Re-induction

Carole, meat helps me, too, but this hunger is a raging craving... way out of proportion to anything I haven't eaten.

I do notice that meat satisfies my hunger better. Eggs and cheese just don't do it when I am starving.

So I'm going to try to make sure most of my protein is meat.

Also, when I have veggies for snacks, I think I will eat them with cream cheese or melted cheese to beef them up a little.

I really think that the Splenda induces cravings in me.

I did really well this evening. Was hungry before dinner, but just normal hunger. And dinner completely satisfied me.

So now I am topping off my water quota for the day.

Thanks so much for responding. Sometimes I feel that my body is inexplicably fighting me every step of the way. It helps to know I have allies!
