  • I re-start 3/16/09

I am re-starting tomorrow morning because by the time I read we were suppose to re-start induction I had already eaten breakfast and lunch - I bought cottage cheese and diabetic yogurt at the store this morning which will go bad before I'm out of induction, so I'm going to eat 1 of each so I don't feel I've wasted all the money.

I made 8 servings of Linda's stuffed green peppers and put them in the freezer tonight after dinner. I cooked at 15 pound turkey for dinner tonight so I'll have a lot of that to eat this week.

I did buy 3 zucchini today - I can't believe how much I like them now. I never did before, but I've noticed there are so many new items on my plate now that were never there before because my tastebuds have changed. I also got 2 big bags of radishes because those are my "go to" snack since 7 = 1 carb.

Mom and I cleaned out both freezers yesterday so I know exactly what is in each of them - that makes creating dinners much easier when I know what is there instead of rummaging through trying to find something. I made 12 hamburger patties and put them in the freezer after I made the stuffed green peppers - that was the hamburger that was left after I made the peppers. I'll cut 1 oz slices of cheese to put in the fridge so I don't have to think or measure each time. I have plenty of induction friendly veggies and meats plus eggs, etc...so I'll get at it in the morning.

I'm going to try and take a walk before Greg goes to work in the morning (he leaves at 8:30) because mom has an appointment with her endocrinologist and we have to leave by 9:00 and we won't be back until just about lunchtime. If it's too chilly first thing in the morning I'll get on the bike and ride 5 miles....I just want to get back to doing good exercising again. I just feel I haven't given it my all lately.

I really hope doing re-induction works.
    Carole

I'm so impressed with your planning! Wow!!! You are truly inspirational. This WOE only works for me if I plan ahead.

Radishes have not been on my radar screen. Hmm, I'll have to go get some!

    good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you -- I've been doing this WOE for awhile, just need to start fresh and clear my head. I learned the first week I was doing Atkins to prepare meals ahead and write down everything the night before I am going to eat the next day -- not to deviate from that list -- and I did very well.

Good luck to you as well!! Thank you for the encouragement.

Your a great sport, Carole. (We needed 5 members to start this forum and she agreed, not knowing what she was getting into) Thanks again
My zucchini is mushy so not at the top of my list. How do you cook yours?

I normally don't cook zucchini -- it has a crunch if you eat it raw. I occassionally cut it in thin slices and put it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds with butter.

Thank you Sherri -- I am committed to another induction I said I would so I will.

Carole, I can't tell you how much I admire your commitment and patience. The more I have read your posts, day after day, the more an inspiration you are to me.

I am not so disciplined. In fact, several days I have eaten more than I wanted to just because I didn't plan well.

So I am also going to start planning a day in advance. I doubt I'll ever catch up with you in cooking ahead like you do, but I am going to try to do more in that direction.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining Stallbusters and helping us get this forum started.

Yes, Carole, you really have it all together with your planning and preparing food ahead so I'm sure you will have great results on induction this time!

Wow Carole, I am soooo impressed.

I am like Sunny... not a great planner ... a great thinker... not a planner... lol! I am not as organized as you are. You are an inspiration to me as well.

I started my induction yesterday without really meaning to.... ha ha! I am going to be exercising THIS time and drinking more water.

Good luck, hon! Work that body and drink that water!

                          Re: I re-start 3/16/09

I didn't get as much exercise in today as I had hoped but I did get up and get some done. I took a short walk this morning and another after dinner. After mom's doctor appointment we walked a couple stores so that should count also. I forgot to put my pedometer on this morning so I have no idea how much we walked while we were away from the subdivision but I know how much I walked on the 2 walks so I'll only count that today.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs w/ham and a scant amount of cheese cooked in butter - topped with hot sauce. 1 ounce raw zucchini - 1 cup coffee w/splenda and 30oz water.

Lunch: large salad, 3 ounces chicken cut into strips cooked in oil, dunked in mayo, 2 Tbsp Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. 30 ounces water.

Afternoon snack: cheese and pepperoni crisps w/ 1ounce zucchini & 1 Tbsp dip - 30 ounces water, cup of coffee (no sweetner)

Dinner: 3 oz turkey, 6 brussel sprouts cooked in butter, 2 oz cucumber w/cheese melted on top cooked in butter. 30 oz water.

After dinner: 1 flax cookie (1 Tbsp flax since it's restricted on induction) cup of coffee w/splenda and 30 ounces of water.

All this in firday came up to 20 carbs.

                            Re: I re-start 3/16/09

My parents taught me to plan, plan then re-plan so you don't set yourself up for failure. I try to use this is every part of my life but when it came to my weight I never was able to plan correctly, thus I was 82 pounds overweight when I first started January 5th.

If I don't plan ahead for the next day's worth of food I find myself standing in front of the refrigerator making poor choices. I think that was my biggest problem the last couple weeks - I had too many choices and wasn't eating properly.

As far as the food I bought yesterday I did have 1 yogurt last night before I went to bed - mom is going to try and eat the yogurt and maybe some of the cottage cheese, she bought a large container of cottage cheese yesterday too so we'll see how that goes. I'm not going to eat anything that isn't on the induction list because if I do I'm not following Atkins the way it was written.

I got some super B complex vitamins this afternoon, trying them for my metabolism - we'll see if they work. I decided this morning I'm not going to weigh until the end of induction --- I won't be losing as quickly as I did the first time so I don't want to know until it's over what I've done.

Tomorrow is St Pat's -- so corned beef & fried cabbage is on the menu for dinner. That's one of my favorite meals. We usually have corned beef, boiled cabbage-carrots-potatoes & onion (boiled meal) but since I am not eating carrots, potatoes and onions it didn't seem like a good idea to cook it that way.

I wonder how many calories you burn puting fertilizer on your lawn....my feet get all out of whack when I'm walking behind the spreader and I probably look like a fool...but the lawn has Scotts Step 1 on now - I'm hoping to get the lawn looking more park-like instead of how it looks now. We cut down 1 half dead ornamental tree last fall and planted grass in it's place - that looks better, that tree didn't belong in the front yard where it was.

So far so good -- I have 2 30oz jugs of water down so far, just about done with the 2nd one then on to number 3. I need to go get some exercise ... will be back later
