As far as I can tell, they are like sardines. More commonly used in the UK than in america, they are eaten for breakfast, tea, or dinner. Farmers claim they taste similar to bacon. More info here.

Sounds like a very small menu, but if it works to fill the belly then bravo!!! I'm the buffet queen... maybe I'll learn what normal portions are one of these days. So far "normal" is just something I see on my washer and dryer settings.
