  • 1 carb DOUGHNUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was craving something sweet yesterday so I made my own atkins-friendly doughnuts. Ok, here's the recipe.

1 scoop of the Dr. atkins vanilla(or choc will do) protien shake mix
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp melted butter
    2 Tbsp water
mix together and fry in a pan w/ oil. I drop spoon full sizes into the oil and when their done, I sprinkled some splenda on them. YUMMI!!!!!!!

This recipe was incredible!!!!!!! I was able to make mine more into a funnel cake with the Splenda in the box (more powdery than the packets). I might pick up a container of the vanilla just to give that flavor a try too.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also tried this with the Atkins bake mix and found it to be even more donut-like.

      Thanks again!

Everything is liquid here, how can u fry them? Is it induction friendly?
          Thanks

I added just a tad more of the shake mix/baking mix to get something a bit more solid. After that, just heat up some oil in a deep pan and pour the batter (I made mine longer like long john donuts). Let it fry on one side for a minute or two and then flip it over. Depending on how much they rise, you'll have to play with the times to get them done inside. I kinda flattened mine down with the spatula to help them along.

Induction legal? It really depends on who you ask. The basic ingredients are the mix (which according to the Atkins company is induction legal), eggs (legal), butter (legal), water (legal), and Splenda (legal in the right amount).

Personally, if you think you haven't curbed your addiction to sweets yet, don't do it. I agree with most here that the best induction is a clean induction (meaning you should stick as close as possible to the real foods on the acceptable list). Maybe make this something to celebrate the end of induction or first month?

I put a bit of a glaze on them instead of the box Splenda - for one batch, used 2T of cream mixed with 2 packets of Splenda, then dribbled that over the donuts. Really yummy!

Wow, this sounds really good. And I do have the Atkins vanilla shake mix. Other than that I have Soy Protein Powder. I just got it yesterday and was soo excited I made some flax/protein muffins. They were really good with a little cream cheese on top. I made a combo of 3 differant recipes I have for muffins. Thanks for the recipe!

These were awesome!! I used the Atkins bake mix that I had and they were a hit. My kids loved them, too, and I was happy to finally have something that I could make on the weekends when the kids (and hubby) enjoy their TimBits.

I made tiny donuts more cooky size. True the batter was runny but I used a small size cookie scoop to spoon it into the hot oil. The kids ate theirs with a dap of jam in the middle. Next time I'll have to double or triple the batch to have enough to share.

Yes I just picked up a recipe book that uses the vanilla protein powders as an ingredient in most of its deserts.
