          Re: Low Carb Garden 2006!

I had a neighbor thin his beds and he gave me 2 grocery bags full of bulbs. well he has over 20 varietties of daffadils so I needed to knw what was what. I just got a palnter box and a bg of soil then planted all the bulbs ( crowding is fine in this bed) in it as my bulb test garden. Worked great and now I got clumps of bulbs and matching color flowers spread all over the yr.
they will all grow the first yr fine. as they come up note when they arrived and if you like them then tag the stems so you remember what is what and transplant them where you want them and you will have flowers for yrs to come where you put them. enjoy

Thanks Patty, but the veggie garden is mostly John's work...I help and I help eat the veggies! My speciality is the flowers!

All the rain we've gotten has wrecked havoc on my tomatoes and peppers!

The beans are growing and beginning to flower.

I also harvested an arm load of lettuce from my containers over the weekend. And the spinach is coming in. I have to thin the Swiss chard this weekend and somehow, I have about 4 squashes/melons of unknown origina growing near my compost pile. Oh well, I'll let them grow and they'll be my surprize crop!

I love surprise crops! I have what i believe to be a cucumber plant (if John hasn't pulled it up yet) that came out of nowhere (must have been in the compost!)

Our tomatos and peppers are fine -- the zuccini has been drowned though, I'm afraid I will have to yank it out of the ground in the next couple of days, everytime i get a baby zuke it rots w/i a couple of days! Everything did better last year with the draught than it is this year with all this crazy rain!

Yay!!! 1st vine ripe tomatoes greeted me on return from vacation, along with quite a few new tomato plants of unknown origin - the community generated compost I'd dressed the yard with, perhaps? MOG, that basket of goodies got my mouth watering!
