    Re: Valentines dinner anyone?

I had my prime rib and lobster tails, I was disappoinated with the lobster, they were pretty small..not much too them.

I made roasted turnips for the first time. cut into 1" chunks, tossed in olive oil then i put lots of cajun spice on them. Then, I sprinkled them with a little bit of splenda. I saw in a post TTDriver said this could help the bitterness of them. They were awesome! I'm going to make them all the time. I didn't make nearly enough..i figured i was the only one that would eat them since DH and his daughter were having mashed potatos. She ended up eating half of them on me.

Did you use the little white turnips or the big ones at the grocery store? They sound good but I was never sure which to use. I saw that lobster tails were on sale for 4.49 per tail, but then I saw the size was 71g and DH said that sounds fairly expensive when you work out the price per pound, he said that you would get more meat on the gigantic shrimp. We are having our Valentine's dinner on Friday as DH had major dental work today, and he's on soft food for a few days.

If you are in OWL nut rung, roll the chevre into discs, then coat lightly with olive oil and then coat it in finely crushed nuts. Put the chevre discs into the freezer for an hour or so, then put them into a hot oven and let the nut crust toast. Serve warm.

If you are in OWL grains rung/ Pre-Maintenance, use a 50-50 mix of finely crushed nuts and bread crumbs as the coating.
that is a grat suggstion I even wrote it down !
I feel guilty that I had wine and fruit...really guilty.Specially because I need to lose two kilos in 10 days to reach my mini goal...oh my Im back to induction. OWL is not working at all for me.

I used the small white/purple ones. I tried making hash browns with them before but found them to be very bitter. Bettys suggestion of a bit of splenda worked. I also saw regular recipes that call for sugar when cooking them as well.
I got the tails for 4.49 and didn't pay much attention to the size and only opened thme last night. I was pretty disappointed they were so small i could have eaten 10 of them!

Thanks Jen, I will give the turnips a try. Sorry about the lobster tails. I took advantage of the crab legs that were on sale last summer, and DH and I often have a cluster with a nice steak. Thank goodness for freezers.
