    Really? That's interesting.....

I don't use hydrogenated oils. Although, I admit I have a small container of plain Crisco vegetable shortening---I mix it with strongly scented hand creams or body lotions and it use it on my skin. It's a great emollulent that is alot cheaper ounce for ounce than and works just as well as Eucerin or Lac-hydrin.

This is why Dr. A said not to use margarine. At the time the book was written he said you could find non-hydrogenated in health food stores. We've had it here in Canada for a while but, as I said, further studies must have concluded that it should be removed from everything.

I think they are going to outlaw it here as well eventially. The folks that are really worried about that are the companies that make things like Oreo cookies...they use it cause it extends the shelf life for friggin ever! Hey, I guess at least if it kills you you won't have to worry about being embalmed...its like you're taking care of that in advance!

Give me REAL butter any day!

LOL - That's my theory on why people are living longer. I think it's all the preservatives and stuff they use in twinkies, etc. We are all filled with preservatives so we have a longer shelf life. Oooh, hijack alert!

I'm all for clear labeling, but I hope they don't take this stuff off the shelf. I'm pro-margerine choice! They're my arteries, I'll harden them if I like provided my muffin is deliciously accented.

              OMG you are toooo funny!!!!!!!

honey if it is all you have on hand and if it accents your food with out adding carbs....only a few transfatty acids will not cause you to drop off the side of an artery clogging cliff ..there are so many other things I would be worried about ...

if you are pro-margerine then it is your choice!!! I just LOVE butter personally and have not even tasted margarine in 20 years ...it probably is good!

everyone agrees transfatties are not the best thing in the world...but ...come on ...sometimes we do what we gotta do to "accen muffins"

I can not stand the smell of lard so when I bake a pie crust I mix butter and Crisco 1/2 and 1/2 ....there I said it ...yes there are transfatties in my house as well!!!

and I agree with Megs ...Crisco makes a great moisturizer and it is perfect for chapped skin and babies butts!!!!

Crisco applied to the skin cured my husbands eczema!!!
