  • perfect meal let's share :)

    part 1

What is the most perfect meal for you? The setting? the food? is it complex or simple? elaborate ..please you guys let's share some ideas!!!

I really believe that plans for what should be the next perfect meal should always be simmering ...for those other people who are not like us ...food may be a means to stay alive fuel ..something they just do because they have to in order to survive ..but for some of us food is the reward for hard work..it is challenging and sensual...an art and a science!!!.

ruminating about food is better than mindlessly eating it in my humble opinion

I will start by sharing this with you and then you take it and go any damnn place you want to go with it!.....I have been under a bit of stress (nothing alarming about that ..most of us are under an alarming amount of stress that is why we come here correct?) ..anyway it is so easy to become complacent with the pleasures of life especially when you are in a cycle of double shifts and a kid getting married ...this week we are still going to Providence btw and I am NOT cooking until we have a reception later this summer they are doing a clambake instead...that is this week)..right now we are trying to buy the dresses for everyone via email and several different stores ...last Friday it was WAY past time jump off the side of the stress boat and into the sea of calm .I threatened to drop my husbands cell phone in the garbage disposal and trust me this is not an idol threat for me...and we went to the beach!
it is not a bad drive maybe 90 min to Tokeland YES IT IS CALLED TOKEland

spring fever has set in for all of us I guess this little boy song sparrow was screaming like crazy and dancing to the point of exhaustion at a girl who had no interest in him ...poor thing
other boys seem to be more lucky..baby geese everywhere

    part 2
it was gray, romantic and the ships going by were beautiful ...it is still so fun to see what you can get away with on a beach under a blanket you know!!!

This guy however ..he was making me nervous glaring at me .... while his friend snuck up behind and took my bag of nuts out of my jacket pocket!!!So all this beach groping under the blanked made us really hungry and since a great crab company was just down the road we figured what the heck and stopped and got some fresh cooked dungeness crabs ...drove home and put together the most perfect me to this day!
fresh dungeness cold, with freshly made tostones (twice fried green plantains) and mojo (fresh garlic and olive oil dipping sauce
    )
and sat outside eating and watched the sun go down in my yard on the hill

sorry about the sizing ...that could be blamed on artistic statement but really I thought I was making them all the same size ...

and when you get to starchy vegetables (someone will argue what they are but I put them in the same catagory as a carrot or potato) try some tostones!!! they are so much better than a white potato!!!

What a nice post! I love that there are other people who see human aspects in birds and other creatures too! (I really get too excited if I see, say, an owl...)

My perfect meal would have to be the lo-carb chicken cacciatore (substituting the wine for a little chicken stock, and the mushrooms for red peppers and zucchini), with a little steamed broccoli - mmmmmmmmmm!

My boyfriend and I had this off our laps yesterday and I was surprised how great it turned out! It was lovely to sit inside all nice and warm while it was pelting it down with rain outside!

I am so glad to see you Heidi! I love this post!

My perfect meal is always the next one. Sometimes it's perfect because of the food, the company, the location, the cost (high or low), the balance, the chef, or the place setting. But until it's perfect for what it is, I don't eat it!

Lunch today is shaved roast beef, broccoli crunch salad, and ricotta cheesecake w/rhubarb compote...in the breakroom with my magazine. It's exactly what I want and need right now, and it's perfect.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Hmmm...perfect meal. With my husband, of course. Eating in a park, or on the beach is fun. I'm all about mood lighting too, and music.

Low lights, candles, jazz, lots of seafood, clams, mussels, oysters, prawns, ahi tuna, wine....Sounds good to me

                Re: perfect meal let's share

My perfect meal depends what I'm in the mood for

For a salad-meal thingy, I would say it would be a poached or fried egg on top of a bitter greens salad (endive, raddichio, etc.) with a warm dressing of bacon drippings, red wine vinegar and alittle garlic---of course, crispy bacon cubes would be on top. Perfect dessert for that would be a perfectly ripe pear with Stilton or goast cheese and toasted walnuts.

For a hearty-stick-to-your-ribs meal, I would say a good melt-in-your-mouth pot roast with a side of sauteed veggies.

For a perfect "picnic" meal...well I've had several and some of them have been ridiculously simple.

After my first 5 mile hike, I sat on a rock overlooking the river and ate two hard boiled eggs, a couple ounces of cheese and a mix of radishes and red peppers, washed it down with water (from my canteen thingy).

I call in sick one day a year to celebrate "Megs Day" (should be a national holiday, imo.) Last year, I spent Megs Day in a park. I had a picnic blanket spread under a tree, a pillow, a stack of books, a radio and a basket of food: cold chicken, veggie salad, and a fruit and veg salad (mango, cucumbers and red peppers). A thermos of ice tea and a few bottles of water. I also brought proper plates, glasses and tableware (nothing plastic or paper!) So basically, I read, relaxed, walked, and noshed all day. Since it was a weekday, I basically had the park to myself.

My perfect meal is Quick and easy and I can do it in Minutes flat. It's weird I don't really like to cook that much so the thing I like the best is kinda off but hey I'll share.

A can of Salmon, chopped crunchie celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, slathered in mayo with almonds in it. SOOO yummy I love the crunch.
