      Kroger has rennet in the canning section I got a box back in 2003 cause some low carb recipe needed it but then found I could just sub the already made cheese for it and save time.

        Re: Make your own Cheese!

        Thanks for the info on where to find rennet 2big.

        Hey for all you chocolate/sweet lovers, how about making that easy yogurt cheese I posted above, and then turn it into a dessert cheese! Check this out!

        Chocolate Cheese Mousse
        This recipe is for a chocolate mousse made from fresh yogurt cheese.

        I N G R E D I E N T S
        1 recipe Yogurt Cheese

        I N S T R U C T I O N S

        First make the "Yogurt Cheese" recipe. When you have completed that recipe then;

        Add one or two heaping tablespoons of Cocoa, one or two heaping tablespoons Sugar (Use splenda!)and one teaspoon of Vanilla extract.

        Mix well with a fork and let chill several hours before serving.

        This is a very rich dessert and usually makes about two to three servings, depending on how much of chocoholic you are? Serious Chocoholics may add more Cocoa & Sugar(splenda), and for the truly brave add one teaspoon of Instant Coffee ( this intensifies the chocolate flavor.)

        Substituting the Vanilla with a nice liquor such as Anisette, Amaretto or Creme de Menthe makes this an even more decadent dessert!

          My grocery store sells rennett. But I've read about that stuff---very temperature sensitive. So........ using lemon juice might be a better alternative for me.

            Yea plus the rennet comes from baby cows stomachs...I think they have to kill the baby cow to get it too There's a vegetarian version but then you have to all sorts of other things to the milk to make it work properly, at least that's what I was just reading on one of the sites.

                  They do look fun don't they! I think everyone should make a batch of cheese over the weekend and report back...complete reports with pics!

                  You know 2big, even though I'm not much into sweets, that chocolate mousse one looks good to me! I might even try it w/o the splenda..just cocoa and instant coffee and vanilla.
