Glad to hear you had a good time! We had to live 5 days w/o hydro due to tornados up at our cottage last week, so i was forced to bbq pretty much everything! I know can say i can make perfect peameal bacon, eggs and toast on a bbq, and a birthday cake! Was my stepdaughters b'day and I hated not to have a cake, apparently I have an inner martha stewart, It turned out perfect!

My bbq'd cake (not low carb btw):

I did have a bite, it was quite good!

After 5 days of being forced to bbq everything (including hot water for coffee and washing dishes), i have to say i wont be grilling again for a while.

OMG Jen tornados are on of my biggest fears in life!!! I am so glad we dont have htem here..just earthquakes and volcanos!!!..great pic you are adorable with your cake!!!! I have baked in a dutch oven over a fire before I made an apple pie in one ..it came out perfectly as well but what a lot of guess work!!!

I have not baked on a bbq but imagine you will be happy with your full kitchen again!!!!

KK I am so fortunate that I actually do live on the Puget Sound ...I can not imagine not being by the water it gives me the only sense of calm I have!!!!

What a beautiful view you have! That's why i would love to live up at the cottage, being at the lake, sitting on the dock in the morning with my coffee is my favourite place in the world.

Thank you KK I have to say that view keeps me somewhat sane ..if you turned around and saw the house in this endless state of repair you would know why this view is so prescious ..with out it ..I would be in a condo in Seattle where I could walk to work!!!!

I am blessed you are right I am just to frazzeled and tired right now to see it clearly! OOOXXX thanks

How did this thread slip past me, I wonder... Heidi, you should be a professional photographer - that'd get you outside more; surely DH wouldn't mind you affording a maid?

You didn't say how the rosemary skewers worked out - I'm curioUs because I always have used my herb twigs to smoke the food on the grill by tossing them under the rack near the end of cooking & putting a lid on it.

                          Cheers,
                          ~Susan

Boonie thanks so much ..I point and shoot and my camera gets all the credit it just does not take bad pics..I did not use the sticks this time but I have used them a lot for skewers and it works perfectly!!! if they are not bone dry you dont have to soak them like the regular skewers but if they are you should then just shove chicken or shrimp or whatever in them I will take the ends and widdle them a little to make points to push easier through the meet...

yes I need to be out of doors more often and anyone close to me would push me hard in that direction ..
