Re: My New George Foreman Grilling Machine!

Mine is a lot smaller than the one you have shown in your picture PH.

I have used mine three times over the weekend.

Lamp chops and peppers on Friday.

Bacon and Mushrooms for Saturday breakfast

and a juicy piece of Rump Steak for Saturday evening meal.

    I love my new toy!

I've used it twice for Steak and I was impressed!! It looked like it was overcooked on the outside but it was fine and tender on the inside.

      Go George!!

Today: Marinated boneless pork chop (soy, ginger, garlic, a little wine) over shredded cabbage drizzled with sesame oil.

Eeeek! I hope you still have your receipts for those GF grills so you can return them!

Although I was one of the first to fall in love with the George Forman Grill and I wore two out and a third that had removable non-stick surfaces, I wouldn't eat off one now! I wonder what the long term effects will be to my health and it makes me mad to think about the possibilities which I wasn't informed about!

They (non-stick products) are on sale because "Teflon and other nonstick and stain-resistant products should be considered a likely carcinogen" (according to the EPA). They are being totally taken off the market in the next 10 years! I can't believe they are still selling them at all. This Teflon poison chemical is even in the microwave popcorn bags!

The only reason I can even think they are still allowing the sales of these products is the almighty dollar!

No offense, but to actualy get enough teflon in your system to do you harm you'd have to be eating those grills raw. It's the same as the big "flax can cause colon cancer!" panic. Well sure, if you eat 5x your body weight in flax a week.

Re: My New George Foreman Grilling Machine!

Actually if you read that article carefully, you will see the concern is mainly with the chemicals that are created during the manufacturing and released into the environment:

Although the chemical would still be used to manufacture Teflon and similar products, processes will be developed to ensure that perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) would not be released into the environment from finished products or manufacturing plants.

They go onto mention that it has been found in the bloodstream of polar bears and marine animals, and i highly doubt it's from cooking on Teflon pans or GF grills

Scientific studies have not established a link between using products containing trace amounts of PFOA, such as microwave-popcorn bags or nonstick pans, and elevated cancer levels. Hazen said yesterday's announcement should "not indicate any concern . . . for consumers using household products" with such coatings.

Where do you think the missing pieces of the grill coating goes? I think I ate part of my grill!

Thanks to Richt, I made my first mixed grill on Big George, o my it was absolutely delicious. Steak, chicken, sausage, bacon and gammon with ratatouille beg.
                      YUMMSTERS!!!
And before I'm asked- Ratatouille is a traditional French Provençal stewed vegetable dish which can be served as a meal on its own (accompanied by rice, potatoes, or simply French bread), or as a side dish. Tomatoes are a key ingredient, with onions, zucchini (courgettes), eggplant (aubergine), bell peppers, a little herbs de provence, and sometimes basil. All the ingredients are sautéed in olive oil.
                      And here's my dins-

The foreman grill is better than sliced bread (at least on this diet!!)
