My apologies, I had no idea this was not an Atkins cooking forum.

At least the Atkins *I* learned about does not allow 50-60 slices of bacon a week. You (as an Atkins Moderator) could have at least addressed that part or edited her post so as not to confuse newbies or anyone else.

Forgive me for posting in public, but I was not informed in private that my posts were deleted.

So what's next?? Chocolate Cake recipes??

      Diesel:

If you look in the recipe forum i am sure you will find some Chocolate Cake recipes.. sorry couldn't resist that one.

As i stated in my replies to you... maybe you should have ASKED what kind of bacon i was eating instead of running into a question about cooking bacon and policing the food and basically ruining and harrassing the thread and me when it was unasked for.

I believe you do want to help people, and i am all for that, but i think you also need to learn when policing is supportive and when it becomes harrassment and negative support that hinders people's weightloss instead of activating their motivation.

I also think you can benefit newbies with your knowledge by teaching them that they cannot always do what someone else does... Dr. A realized that people were individuals.. and his book does not convey a zero tolerance attitude as you do... this WOL is not as difficult as you want to make it by policing people and acting like a newbie is too ignorant to make choices that benefit their WOL..

Like i said, instead of jumping in saying NO THAT'S WRONG, perhaps next time you may want to ask your questions first before condemning people without having knowledge about what its all about. THAT was the biggest problem i had with the post you made. If you would have just asked/discussed instead of policing and accusing me.. you would have found 1) it is sugar free, and 2) i didn't look at nitrates because i don't plan to eat that many once i am past this meeting in March... and Dr. A was recommending watching them because of the nitrates if it was sugar free... i made a personal choice to have bacon because my initial concern is not cancer.

It was your approach that pissed me off.. because your approach implies i am too stupid to understand what i read in atkins and what i am doing and YOU know best. I hate to tell you but you only know what is best for you... not individuals who post a few words here..

Now, do you think we can put this behind us?

By the way Dieselbud, as for my experience with atkins.. i lost 50 lbs in 3 months before my life flipped and i quit a couple years ago... and i have already lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks, which is the same pattern i had before.. so i am asking you to maybe give some credit to people even newbies for making decisions that work for them... and relax, atkins is not as rigid and complex as you want to make it..

      good luck with your weightloss..

I have used a broiler pan to cook bacon in the oven. (the kind where you put water in a tray that's under a grid?) nice and crisp. But I like it a bit chewy, so i usually go pan fried right before making my omelette. If you make a nice batch at the beginning of the week, you can freeze some and use it throughout the week piece by piece. (or in batches... hehe)

If my sausage and ham were bacon, I'd probably be up there in my bacon count too... but I rotate my breakfast meat and salad sprinkling meats around daily. (roast beef caesar salad anyone?)

        Diesel... what's up? :confused
Try the chocolate cheesecake recipe in the desserts forum! It's yummy! :eating

I totally pan fry mine on low heat (a "3") in a cast iron skillet. And, like nullo, I save the grease for other applications in cooking!

Bacon in the oven is more dry than British humor.

            Thanks Cleo and GrillMaster...

is bacon grease better than butter and stuff or do you utilize it for flavoring?

i did my first oven ones lol they came out limp lol so i tried the second batch with tinfoil on top and they came out nice and brown still long not shriveled and good....

takes a bow cause she didn't blow up or burn up anything...

            Have a great night..

I don't like using aluminum foil because my husband's family has a history of Alzheimer's. Others probably don't have that same concern, though!

I use bacon fat for deep fat frying of things, such as mozarella sticks and shrimp!

For stir fry I prefer a lighter oil. Bacon fat can be very heavy.

I don't use butter so much anymore for cooking (sometimes for eggs, I sautee onion in a pan with butter then add the eggs) but definitely on top of foods once they are prepared.

Seeing as my posts were deleted, it said something like.

                :yikes That's alot of bacon.

unless you are using some sort of sugar free or nitrate free bacon that lots of us are having a hard time finding.
I am not trying to jump on you angel, so please stop shooting the messenger. Plain and simple, 50-60 slices of bacon a WEEK is FAR more than DANDR allows. Dr Atkins said to eat it sparingly.

The only reason I replied to this post again is because I just learned yesterday that it had been deleted, and I have never had a mod do anything with a post of mine before without informing me, and I am sure these post will follow the same demise.

Just as I would hope that Nullo would think twice about allowing a post in here about banana cream pie, I would think he should think about leaving a post that states someone eating 50-60 slices of bacon a week as if it is OK. Geeze louise all either of you have to do is change the word week to month.

Take it or leave whatever advice I give. Take it personally or learn from it, there isn't much more I can do. From now on, I will refrain from anwering any of your posts, as you seem to be more sensitive to my posts than anyone else has in 6 months. So thanks and good luck on your weight loss as well, I will see you around the boards.

Diesel you do jump on people.. and your initial post went something like this....

:yikes WOW thats alot of bacon :no :sadblinky

We should not be eating so much bacon; unless its sugar free and nitrate free of cource.

Diesel you don't give advice.. you police people ... your initial post was all negative.. all the yikes and frowny faces. It was also unasked for and nonsollicited and completely through ME off my motivation.. that is what i am trying to explain....

This is a support board, its not all about the newbies.. and when it is.. they need to learn that people are individuals and that newbies can't do everything everyone else does. I think nullo did the right thing, you barged in here and completely obliterated the topic of the thread that was posted in the correct forum.. And you copped someone who wasn't looking or asking for your advice on how much bacon i eat..... Now, if you have a suggestion on how to cook bacon.. please i am all ears..

Just realize there is a difference between policing in a supporting way and policing in a negative way or an unwanted way.. and more importantly, atkins is NOT all about the food... and newbies need to be taught -- not dictated too...

I am losing weight at the pace i wish to be.. i will continue to do so and i will have all my weight gone as soon as i wish it.. Give people some space to know what they are doing before you automatically barge in with the you are doing it wrong and i am right so do it the way i tell you, especially when its not asked for.

I hope we can put this to rest now.. i am here for support and to enjoy people not feel like i have to watch my every step or else the police will jump on you.

                    Diesel -

Sorry for not PMing you, I am bad about that, I Admit. I opted to just post into the thread that I had had deleted lots of posts because I had deleted from multiple members and not really checks who had posted what.

As for the bacon, Dr. A doesn't forbid any particular amount of bacon per week, just cautions about hidden sugars. If you have sugar free bacon you could easily eat 80 slices per week and not go overboard if you were limiting other fats/proteins.

I would delete a post for a high carb chocolate cake, as that is blatantly anti-atkins, but, as mentioned above, there are plenty of LC dessert recipes in the recipe areas.

                    To All -

Seems like things have become civil again, let's keep it that way, if you want to discuss the legality of eating certain amounts of bacon please do it in the Open Forum, not here. This is a place for cooking ideas/suggestions, not debates, if the debates continue I will have to lock this thread, thanks.

IMO, the best way to cook bacon (I found the Kirkland (Costco) brand with no sugar!) is in a seasoned cast iron frying pan......even heat and cooking......delicious!
