Potatoes are definitely not on the induction list! Very starchy veggie, sorry.

Go have some broccoli and cheese!

Not to be the devil's advocate or anything but...

While I agree that potato's are evil, just the skin of one potato isn't too bad (granted it is mostly carbs compared to fat and protein). Below is the fitday information for just the skin (I'm assuming that it's done from peelings only). I'm also making the assumption that this an "average" skin. From the numbers, this skin weighs about 38grams

That's interesting...I'll keep that information and use it when I am OWL .......I actually prefer a crisp skin to the whole potatoe anyway....

          Thank you!!!!

            Re: Potatoe Skins

If the "potato skin" is the less than 1/16 inch thick covering of the potato, then I don't see the point in eating that because it tastes like dirt. And you'll need to use a vegetable peeler to peel it off the potato. Granted you will still get some of the starchy material on those "skins", so you will have better luck boiling or roasting the potatoes whole then scraping the starchy parts off the skins and using that.

If the "potato skin" is the "potato skins" I see in restaurants---a halved potato with most of its innards scooped out forming an edible container, it's essentially a potato.

But either way, potatoes aren't allowed on Induction according to the list.

              Re: Potatoe Skins

you can bake slices of the potatoe then when done scrape out the soft potatoe leaving only the skin and a thin layer then sprinkle with cheese and bacon and re- toast in the oven until done. This sounds really good. I can have the potatoe for the kids and we can eat the skins.

              I might try this. thanks!

But not until the starchy veggies rung... potatoes and their skins are not on the list.

The skins of potatoes are dirty even if you wash it since it's a root crops.

Potatoe skin can only be used for beauty treatment. You can smoothly rub them on the skin to remove dirt and marks.

                      exactly.

I haven't updated my icon, but I'm on the starchy veggies rung. I had about two tablespoons of potato in the form of some thin potato skins in a restaurant (not much more than just the skin itself) and I started having sugar cravings shortly thereafter. so yeah, potatoes are like crack to me, so I suggest being very careful with them.

                        Re: Potatoe Skins

thanks for these posts all! I've wondered this myself since i'm a POTATO HEAD! seroiusly - i USED to eat them raw as a child.

my fiance, however is VERY weird, imo - and he'll eat all the flesh out of the baked tater but HATES the skin - whereas i LOVE the skin...i USED to eat his skin after he was done with his potato...but i will probably need to stay away from them, even on that starchier rung as i'm sure having just the skin would make me want a WHOLE potato...
