Good advice, three strikes and you're out! I'll have to try them out.

Kippers are smoked herrings. Fresh herrings are delicious! My favorite pre-Atkins WOC (way of cooking) them was a Scottish method of coating them with oatmeal and frying them in bacon fat.

Monet the rule works I have found some foods that I will eat if prepared correctly!....and three times is enough...I tried eel for instance three times three differing ways, sushi, smoked and in an Italian dish..and let me tell you all three times I could not swallow it..and I have NO aversion to anything that comes from the sea I love fish and seafood!!! but no eel for Nursey!!!!...

Ahhh.. fresh smoked herrings. I can find them occasionally in my supermarket. They are nice.

But's what's really fab is that one of my bosses is a weekend fisherman and he smokes his catches---which is usually large and his wife makes him get rid of whatever they can't stuff into their freezer. He uses apple wood to smoke them and he does a very yummy job of it---moist flesh and the smokiness isn't overpowering.

Really nursey? I love grilled eel sushi! And when I worked in the sushi restaurant everyone that asked me to pick something for them that's what I"d pick. I'd refuse to tell them what it was until after they tried it,they alway w/o fail loved it--usually until I told them what it was, then they'd say ewwwwww. But I'd remind them that they loved it until they found out what it was!
