I made this for a cookout once and people were using it as a dip for their chips.
Here's what I have:
Steak Burgers with White Cheddar and Jalapeno Spread
2 servings
burgers:
1 pound ground beef, room temperature
2 tablespoons butter, softened
Cheese Spread:
1/2 pound white cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/8 cup mayonnaise
3 green onion, minced
5 whole fresh jalapeno, seeded and minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
pinch salt
hot sauce, to taste
Burgers:
Mix beef with butter and form into two thick, solid patties.
Refrigerate one hour. While beef is chilling, prepare the
topping:
Cheese Spread:
Blend all ingredients until smooth.
Preparation:
Season the hamburger patties with salt and pepper on both
sides. Preheat a saute pan over medium heat. Cook patties
3 minutes, flip and cook an additional 5 minutes for medium-
rare. If you prefer well-done burgers, add a couple of
minutes to the cooking time. Top with some of the cheese
spread and allow it to melt over the burger.
Cyn's Notes:
I leave out the onion and be sure to cook the cheese mixture on a low temp, or it will start to stick to the bottom of the pot.-Cynthia (CeeDee)
