ok thanks, that must be why more korma went a bit wrong then! I couldnt find shredded and used the dessicated which made it really bitty. Is the shredded pieces bigger than the dessicated pieces?

I would guess so... but I'm not sure. Because the moisture is extracted, their volume should theoretically decrease (if they are shredded the same way).

I don't think you can find shredded coconut that is not dessicated. I'm sure there's no such thing in Germany. You could shred coconut meat yourself, I suppose...
By the way, if I remember correctly, on American labels "shredded coconut" is the same thing as "dessicated coconut" in the UK (someone please correct me if I'm wrong with this one). So if a recipe asks for shredded coconut, it's probably dessicated coconut what is meant.
