Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
Okay, just took it out of the oven and tasted it and I couldn't eat it. It was so greasy and I didn't like the cream cheese part.
Guess I'm one of the ones that doesn't care for it. It literally almost made me sick
Really stinks! I have been looking forward to it all day! Oh well...

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
I made this today, not necessarily for the whoosie; it just sounded yummy! I only used 2oz of the cream cheese and it was lovely!
BTW - I brought the horseradish powder from eBay!!! It was about £2.50 for 100g including postage!

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
Best Hamburgers I ate was in'Motz Restaurant', Detroit's historic hamburger stop. I haven't yet tried any kind of recipes at home. But I am thinking of trying the Hamburger Pie as its recipe is here.

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
I made this the first time I was on Atkins and I thought it was disgusting!! Anyway, I decided to try it again this time around. The first time I made it, I did not put in the horseradish. This time I used it. Wow!!! Big difference 2 tsp of horseradish can make! This time it is actually good! I did not use as much cream cheese as the recipe calls for. I probably used 2/3 of an 8oz package.

Perhaps 2 tsp of horseradish is an acceptable carcinogenic risk for a whoosh. I know that if oatmeal reduces cholesterol and I decide to substitute the oatmeal with chayote, I *might* miss out on the benefit by not following the actual recipe!
By the way, I made this (as instructed) yesterday. I don't weigh in until Saturday, but I'll be your test dummy and let you know if it makes a difference in my weekly average!

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
Thank You for the info. about the cream cheese. I buy the WM Brand. I think it says 2 carbs. for 2 TBLS. That is why I have been avoiding it. But now I may go hog wild. LOL not really but I will use it a little more.

Re: Hamburger Pie - Whooshie food!
SueSue, here are the USDA counts for cream cheese.
- 1.0 cup has 6.17g of carbohydrates
- 1.0 package, small (3 oz) has 2.26g of carbohydrates
- 1.0 cubic inch has 0.43g of carbohydrates
- 1.0 oz has 0.75g of carbohydrates
- 1.0 tbsp, whipped has 0.27g of carbohydrates
- 1.0 tbsp has 0.39g of carbohydrates
What cream cheese are you getting that lists 2 per TBSP? Perhaps it is listing 2 per 1 oz? 1 oz would yield about 2 TBSP or so.
