Well, to give the BK workers a devil's advocate: The people who cook the burgers are not always the ones who assemble them--the same "blanks" are used for more than one kind of sandwich. After they're cooked, they're kept in warmers and the assemblers just grab the "blank" they need. These "blanks" consist of a bun and a patty. The assemblers are taught how to assemble whichever sandwich on the bun, and then wrap it up or box it. It's like an assembly line with one person--everything is done in a certain order, in a certain way. They can handle "no pickles" etc because they just skip that step. But "no bun" requires them to actually remove the bun. While I agree that this should be simple to understand and to do, BK's training methods haven't yet caught up with the times.

I work at McDonald's and everyone at our store pretty much gets the picture... about 6 months ago our GM installed a "bun" button on the grill screen so now when it pops up on the screen to be made it'll specify "-BUN" ^_^

Also, the Premium Salads are truly excellent, and have 9 carbs.. that doesn't include dressing though, which are all 4 except for the Cobb.

I was so happy when i saw that other people ate at McDonald's! I haven't eaten there since i started induction because i was scared they would all look at me funny if i didn't want a bun, ketchup, etc.

Does anyone know what is in the Big Mac sauce? Is it induction or OWL legal?

        Thanks!!!

Big Mac sauce is basically thousand island dressing. It's got sweet pickles in it, and probably some kind of ketchup-type substance mixed with a mayo-type substance. I'd be careful about it.

While I haven't ordered a BM since starting induction, I'd probably just scrape the sauce off, and let the trace bits left on the patty serve as a flavor enhancer.

The only problem with ordering McDs and throwing the bun aside or ordering it bun-less, is you're still not getting any veggies. You're basically getting meat and cheese. Yes that's atkins approved. But ya' should be having some veggies. I like Carls Jr. and In-n-out. They wrap the burgers in a whole lotta' lettuce so you feel like you're getting more than just a lonely looking slab of meat.

I just stopped there this morning before work. I ordered one sausage patty and one egg (the kind they put on the sandwiches). The total came to $1.27 and they put it in a small (it looked like a side salad) container and gave me a fork and knife. When I got to work, I melted cheese on a low carb wrap and put the egg and sausage inside to make my own "breakfast burrito". It's pretty good!

My only real experience with this is ordering the low carb burger from Carl's Jr. It was good but what I found was I paid as much for a plain burger wrapped in lettuce as I would have for an entire combo meal. My kids all got full meals w/fries etc. and theirs were equal in price. Its terrible because I'm paying more to get less in the name of commercialism.

An entire combo meal of crap. They're getting "more" empty carbs. You're getting protein and healthy fats. How is that bad? I get one of those 4 or 5 days a week. I think it's a great deal! That's a big-*** burger for $4.

Yes you are getting a good size burger, and who needs the crap. I think though that perhaps they could cut the price for the stand alone burger. In fact, the one with bun is the exact same size and costs less. Seems odd to me that they are saving money on ingredients and charging us more.
