        Jo -

Thank you for the very warm welcoming I'm looking forward to this, as it's my first challenge I've taken on.

I want to thank you for all you have done thus far in regards to helping me understand this better and helping me get set up.

I read the entire thing to my DH and he pointed something out.. I have to hand you back to congrats on my completing my first climb.. sorry Now that I have alot better understanding and have actually gone and counted all our stairs (on either side of the building) I was taking credit for steps not taken.. I know a set of steps is suppose to be 1 flight, but that's basing it on an average of 15 steps.. the most ANY one set of steps has in our building is 8, so in actual fact I was pretty much doubling what I was really doing. Again I apologize, and have since redone the numbers (honestly) and found it rather interesting.. the stairs by our door has 36 steps (2.4 flights) and the stairs on the far side has 46 steps (3.0 flights) Strange.. anyways here's my new calculations for what I had done and what I did today...

        July 20th - 5 flights
        July 21st - 16.5 flights TOTAL FLIGHTS = 29.5
        July 22nd - 8 flights

So I will put this towards Big Ben That means I have 12.5 flights left to complete my first building. I think possibly I can complete that for tomorrow (Wednesday).

I have to say, my DH and I have both already noticed a difference in my ability to do the stairs and my breathing is getting better too! Today I actually raced DH upstairs! hahahaha.. he took the elevator and I ran down 6 steps and then ran up 36! I was so pleased when my hand got to the door before his. Someone would have said we were acting a tad like children Ohh well... it was fun!

In regards to getting the lists.. DONE! Well I think so unless I'm missing some? I went to the link you provided on page 151 of this thread, and I saved the pictures in my Atkins folder.. so now I have at least what's there.

I'm going to try to add that graphic to my signature.. I just hope I don't lose what I have already.

As for if you can answer more questions, yes of course, always *giggles* I had one but apparently have lost it at this moment and time.

I think that's it for now.

Thanks again & happy climbing everyone!!!

Thank you the warm welcoming I don't know if addictive is the right word lol but I'm liking it so far, but I have to admit I liked it awhole lot better before DH figured out I had to do double the work! LOL

The other challenge I'm wanting to join up for is the water challenge. When does that start? I drink LOTS so I might as well put it towards something.

          Have a great Wednesday everyone!

sassy, the water challenge has a cut off date. i think it was july 3 or maybe the 4th. at any rate, the date is well passed. but sign up for the august water challenge will probably be posted early next week. just watch the Challenges forum for a new thread. fowlergirl takes care of that challenge just in case you want to pm her.

also, the SEMI ANNUAL DRINK UP! WATER CHALLENGE will be next month. i think i will start sign up for that next week.

i don't know if i pointed this out or not but this challenge is a go your own speed challenge. you can pace yourself as needed and there is no need to try to outdo another challenger... although it's been know to be done.

you got a great hubby for keeping you straight. i'll adjust my spreadsheet but i have a feeling you'll be adding Big Ben as a finished climb in just a day or so.

              July 20th - 5 flights
              July 21st - 16.5 flights TOTAL FLIGHTS = 29.5

did you know we have a certificate for our non adbb members who do this challenge? that came about because biogeek was getting her whole office staff into climbing flights at lunchtime. they all completed the first set of buildings and gave them all a certificate. your dh could get himself the same certificate! it requites you to print it off but maybe when he gets to that point, you'll have your printing problems taken care of.

              acting like kids????? priceless.

In regards to getting the lists.. DONE! Well I think so unless I'm missing some? I went to the link you provided on page 151 of this thread, and I saved the pictures in my Atkins folder.. so now I have at least what's there.

there are actually 4 sets. the mountains, 2 sets of buildings and the towers/mast/chimneys. we do have a challengers choice but those climbs would vary from challenger to challenger.

I'm going to try to add that graphic to my signature.. I just hope I don't lose what I have already.

you shouldn't lose what's already there. not unless you delete them. when you add the graphic, you can choose to preview your signature just to make sure you did it right. if you did and you like what you see, you can then click submit or save, whichever it says.

As for if you can answer more questions, yes of course, always *giggles* I had one but apparently have lost it at this moment and time.

I think that's it for now.

Hello To All My Climbing Companions

First off as you can see.. I figured out how to add the challenge image to my siggy

In regards to the water challenges and the Semi Annual Drink Up.. I'll keep my eyes out for them and will hope that I don't miss them.

I managed to get 8.5 flights done tonight. I'm kinda down about that as I figured I could just whip them off and be done Big Ben. I am suffering through an invisible TOM and my lower back is raging with pain. I'm guessing that the whole Atkins thing has thrown my TOM for a whirlwind, because it's ALWAYS early never mind late! It was due almost 4 days ago and still no sign of it, but my body sure is suffering the symptoms! My dh keeps teasing me saying.. ohh you're probably pregnant! LMAO.. ummm.. there is NO chance of that and he knows it.

That's pretty cool that certificates can be given to non members who participate. Awesome idea.

So tomorrow sometime I will finish the 4 flights needed for Big Ben!

Tomorrow is my big measure and weigh-in day as today was my 7th day on Atkins. I hope it goes well.

I hope you all had a terrific Wednesday, and tomorrow looks even a lil brighter!

                Night all...

sass y, you're doing great! i can already see you getting addicted and really thinking about taking the stairs instead of the elevator or the lift as our brit buddy sal calls it.

increasing your activity might have bearing on the tom, too.

Congrats on a great start with your climbing Sassy. Looking forward to seeing you complete Ben... I seem to remember (probably wrongly) that I started with Big Ben too.

Once you get really addicted, you might like to get hold of an aerobic step. That really helps clock up the flights. I know I would never have made the summit of Everest without it!

                    Happy climbing!

                      How's My Climbing Buds Doing

Jo - Thanks for the vote of confidence! You wanna talk about getting into taking the stairs vs the "lift" Today I did MORE than enough to finish off ol Big Ben! You can add 15 flights onto the 38 that I have please. I'm not sure about the whole TOM thing, but I'm sure between the program, water and excercise they all probably play a contributing factor in why it's so late. I just wish the horrific pain would be late with it! ~sighs~ Today I have had 128oz's of water.

Sally - Well I did it! I finished Big Ben! WOOHOO That's kinda funny that you picked Big Ben too. I'm not really sure why I did? I'm just happy it's done and now I can pick a new building to do. As for an aerobic step... have you completely lost your mind woman??? HAHAHAHA OMG.. I could just see me.. ~ laughing to hard at mental image ~ I think I'll save the cost of a hospital trip! LOL Ohhhh Boy...

So if I have figured this out right, that should mean now that I have finished Big Ben (July 24th) and now have 11 flights I can put towards my next climb? I hope I'm getting how this works.

Mentioning next climb.. let me see here.. I think I'll do.. hmmmm..
MILLENNIUM DOME, ENGLAND 320 steps 21 flights
With that said, I should only have 10 flights left to finish it? I think I'm catching on.

The results after being on Atkins for 7 days is...
Loss of 10 pounds and 9.5 inches

Alrighty then... I think I'm done for now. I need to get some shut eye, as it's now 3:25AM. I hope you're all doing well with your challenges.

                          Hey Fellow Climbers..

I hope you are all doing well in meeting your challenges.

I myself did not get in a very productive excercise day. I only managed to get 3 flights done tonight. I've had a pretty moody day and been in alot of pain, because my TOM decided to sort of make an appearance.

So my grand total should now be 14, which would mean that I have 7 flights left to complete Millennium Dome.

I'll try to do better tomorrow.

I did get another 3 flights done. So that should put me at 17 with 4 left to complete Millennium Dome.

                                Just an update..

Today I did 15 flights and drank 112oz's of water! I'm feeling pretty good about this part of the whole thing so far. Also, I got into 2 pairs of jeans that didn't fit me before going on Atkins. In fact one pair I just tried on like 3 days ago and they didn't fit.

I'm now done the Millennium Dome and would like to carry my 11 flights over to Clifton Suspension Bridge, England 490 steps 33 flights.. so that means I have 22 flights left to complete it.

I hope you all had a great weekend and that you have an even better week ahead!
