Busted out and did 3 trips up and down the beach stairs today for a quick 453 stairs. Just so I'm clear, do I get to keep the stairs I climbed after each goal attained? Or do I have to start over with each new building/mountain?

There was a little motivation down at the stairs as well. Ran into my tennis partner there, who was in the process of doing 60 sets. That's a total of 9,060 steps in one go. That'd get him straight to the top of Ben Nevis with room to spare.

So, yeah, I got a ways to go to catch up with him. It's a good goal to shoot for though, as I think that's the kind of shape I'm going to need to be in to make it to the top of Whitney... same guy has already committed to joining me on the climb.

bob, each climb is a new start. once your done with whatever you are climbing, you start back at zero.

i don't even count going down the stairs, bob.
is you buddy a member of the board? he can come in and join the challenge and earn himself an award!

i should have said this in the other post. although you start each climb at zero, you can carry over flight/steps. such as, if you are climbing forth rail brige and you only have 22 to finish but you climb 30 flights, you can take the extra 8 and count it toward the next climb. myjack has done that on a couple of climbs.

Yeah, I don't count going down either... otherwise, I'd end up on the ground floor. My friend's in great shape, and doesn't struggle with his weight, so probably not a propective board member, and I've got a ways to go before I can realistically think about catching his 60 sets (he runs them).

I reset my signature to reflect my new understanding of the rules. At least I've got the M. Dome under my belt. One more trip up the stairs at the beach, and I'll have Sydney conquered as well. If my calves aren't shot in the morning (and I hope they're not; I've got tennis at 3), I may just see about knocking off Syndey and the Clifton bridge in one go (4 trips up, and a little bit extra).

I hear you Jimmie... on yearning for those short climbs!!! Right now Mont Blanc seems to be taking forever... in spite of having tried to up my average.

Pant, pant... I'm telling myself to remember the tortoise and ignore the hares!

                          How's everyone else doing?

jack is very close to finishing snowden. 18 flights to go.
maybe we can celebrate his accomplishment in a couple of days.

i got in 223 flights last week. it was a good week for climbing!

So, I'd accumulated some stairs over the past few days around town, and decided to see where I stood, and found that I was 2 steps over the opera house. I was about to post it, but got to feeling restless, so I went to the beach and took down the suspension bridge with 4 trips up the neverending staircase. It was the first day my thighs felt mostly recovered from the 3 trips I did on Friday, and I wanted to make sure to build on it, rather than let them rest too long.

                              Cheers,

Have to say, this challenge is a good thing. I'm pretty sure... I mean 100% positive... I wouldn't have done those 1057 stairs I've logged at the beach if I didn't have this challenge lurking in the back of my mind as incentive.
