I need more information, please. I am anal about details before I commit to something. Personality quirk!

I can wog, I love lifting weights.

LYSSIE, is this challenge top secret stuff or what??

We want details! Do we really have to improve our 5K time by 30 seconds to earn a point? Yikes. Or am I just a slow runner?

                        Re: New Psychotic Challenge

MmmMMmkay. Here's how it's gonna be...

For the running portion: You'll earn 1 point for each 10 seconds (you can thank Josh for lowering that from 15/30 seconds) that your 5k (3.1 miles) time improves. Please use a time to start with that you have had within the past 2 months.

For the weights portion: Since we all do different exercises, it's going to be a little more flexible and hectic here. Ok. For each muscle group - Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps, Chest, Back, Quadriceps, Hamstrings and Calves - you can choose *ONE* exercise. Using your max weight (the weight you can painfully do 12 reps at) as the starting point. For each 5 lbs you increase as your max weight for any of the exercises, you get 1 point.

The challenge will last 8 weeks (starting 05 February and ending 01 April).

I'll work on putting together a website in the next couple of days so everyone can check and track from there. We'll have the check-in be either when you decrease time, increase weight, or at least once a week (just so we know who's running away - and not in a good sense).

If you have questions, lemme know.

                          Re: New Psychotic Challenge

I'm in the second week of the Cool Running couch to 5K program. In other words, I don't think I can participate in the running portion because I havent even gotten to the 5K part yet. Would it be okay if I just do the weights portion and work toward running a 5K?

Uhmm.. yeah, but I thought in that program, you still went 5k as the distance, just part of it was walking, part was jogging? Which is completely fine, and a lot of us do that, it's just improving on the time it takes to go the 5k...

I think I'd better just do the weight portion if that's okay. Like I said, I'm only in the second week of the couch to 5K program. It's only 20 minutes of walk/jog plus a 5 min warm-up walk. I definitely don't think that would amount to 5k if I'm not mistaken.
