ADBB Presidents Exercise Challenge

    Hi 2BIG - Wanna suggested I ask you a question. Hope I can describe it well - if not, please have me clarify.

    She showed me the website where you start with 4 minutes of alternating sprints/walk - then you add to that a little at a time every other workout.

    Here's what I don't understand...

    I have been doing the treadmill for 1 hr. to 1 hr. 15 minutes per workout (4 days/wk) If I am going to start doing this type of routine (starting with 4 minutes), what do I do for the other 71 minutes? I just can't stop after 4 minutes and go home.

    Here's what I did. I continued at the fat burning level on the treadmill - which is a heart rate of 122 or less for me. Then every 5 minutes or sometimes 10 minutes if my heart rate hadn't gotten back down to 122, I did a sprint for 1 minute. I continued this until my time was up.

    Anyway, let me know what your thoughts are. I appreciate it!!!!

      are we talking you want to do the coolrunning couch to 5K program or are you asking about high intesity interval training? without a link to wannabe's site I have no clue which you are discussing. if it is one of those you have missed something important about the workout.

                HIIT is all about alternating the high and the low for the whole time you work out so if you do 60 min then you alternat for 60 min not once and stop. you doo the high then the recovery howevry long it takes you to get back to fatburning rate and then you do the max speed again until your heart rate is mmaxed for a min then you recover you keep doing it when you have been doing it a lng time you will be alternating by the min. Hakes for a very focused treadmilling seesion as you alter speed and incline.

                    I just signed up. What a great thing! Thanks for this way of motivating myself!
                    Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.

                    I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

                                but you will get there it is designed to take time and encourage daily workouts since nomatter how much you do it will only allow you to count 750 exercise points a day. Check out the report topic and see how the rest of the active group is doing.
