Yes I got two free hours with my membership. The first day we went over the program I am doing now and she suggested some changes (pushups, spinning class, alternatives for core work). She had me doing a lot of functional strength exercises and core work with equipment I have never bothered to try before---medicine ball, kettle bells, a huge rope that you snap on the floor, gliders. It was interesting and exhausting.

30 minutes of cardio core circuits. Killers-- especially the rope drill and planks with gliders. Also it is push up day.

I have not lifted but done some yoga classes. I really like them. This one teacher can really make those muscles burn and that without lifting one weight. I am so amazed at it all.

I did yoga a long time ago and remember being really surprised at how much muscle tone I gained. I like pilates because its sort of a cross between yoga and strength training. It also really stabilizes and strengthens your core.

I like how you are always mixing things up, Liv.

Today I worked upper body with a heavy duty weight workout. That plus the push ups gives me 70 minutes today Then 35 mins cardio to go that little extra.

That is interesting about what your trainer has you do. Are you going to stick with her Jill.
              I did some strength today
And yesterday I bought a size 4 pants - I was in a state. All this exercising really works

No, can't afford it. But 90% of what I do is my own plan. The new stuff just shows me ways to rethink my routines and get some core work in through ne moves and equipment. I definitely took notes on the moves because most I can do myself. The gliders are really interesting and pack flat in the suitcase (always a consideration for me) so I have actually ordered a set to take back to China with me.

Today I just didn't feel like going to the gym so I did lower body at home with dumbbells, step and press, wall sitting, etc. and the dreaded pushups too

Yes I could not afford one either. I sometimes think about taking a short "learn how to lift" class just to get some new ideas.

Liv, that's not a bad idea. Even though I have been lifting several years, sometimes you slip on technique and it doesn't hurt to have someone remind you of the proper way. Muscle and Fitness does a great training manual with a lot of info on how to lift properly too. I keep it in my exercise area and every once in awhile I pull it out as a self check.
