Just ran 5 miles during lunch. Hot and humid! Was really pushing myself and thought I was running hard and fast. But alas the heat was playing mind games with me and I only ran it in 49:48. So 3 minutes off my best but still under 50 minutes.

I really wanted to push in the heat because I want a good time in the race Monday. I'm shooting for 40 minutes but I'll be happy with anything under 45. I think it's doable, 4.6 miles and an overall downhill course.

Did another 5 miler this morning. Man was it humid. 48:29 which is a minute and a half slower than my best but a minute and a half faster than yesterday. I was pushing it and thought I was running fast again, but that humid air is just so thick it's deceptive.

I think maybe a 2.6 miler (fast run) tomorrow then another 5 miler on Friday then rest Sat & Sun for the race Monday.

Never had this happen and it happened twice during today's run. Two people yelled to me, "keep it going". A kid right at my halfway point and a guy out of his truck halfway up my big hill at the 3.7 mile mark. They perked me up right when I needed it. Anyone else ever get encouragement from passersby when they're running?

I just finished my 8 miler for today. Hot, humid, is an understatement. I could actually wring out my sweat towel. I filled my water bottle with all ice and it was totally melted before I hit 4 miles. Whew.

Jim, oh yes, I get all kinds of "encouragement" .. wolf whistles, horn honks and other unmentionables..............I so badly want to scream "I COULD BE YOUR MOTHER!"

I hear you about the sweat. When I was doing my post run stretching it was pouring off me like a faucet.

Sarah, what a small world. I just sent off my postcard to recieve Runners World mag yesterday. dodododododo--- wierd.
                urplequ:
I did an hour walk this am, I will make up for it tomorrow with a 5 miler. I had some wine this weekend and it led to not technically cheats, but atkins endulge peanut butter cups and some EAS Edge Carb control shakes (from Sat to yesterday). My stomache is killing me and I feel like crap. I guess now I know how those things effect me and I will make different choices in the future. I will be sticking with nuts and berries for my "high" for a while longer. Have a great day everyone.

Great job Betty and Jim. :nod

Betty get a T-shirt with you age on the back, I really don't think it will deter any of the comments because franky these days age doesn't matter, but give it a try.

Jim-- Encouragement? I wish. At 5 am I rarely see anyone and the ducks and bunnies no speaka the Engilsh.-- My hubby is my encouragement, when I wake him up for work, he always asks how it went, that helps keep me going.

Betty, you look great. I don't think it would matter if they knew your age or not!

Lower body weight day for me and 500m in the pool this morning. Terrible air here still.

You're all amazing! Have a great day.

                      Hi guys! :wave

                      You're all doing so great!!
I am not running anymore, but I'm still doing my 5 k brisk walking and that's working out well. We're going to a wedding on Aug 6th, so I'm going to aim for walking mon-fri for July. There's a dress I want to get, and if I can fit into it by the end of July (and if it's still there!!) I'm going to buy it.
The walking is fantastic and like you all were mentioning, there's so much to see! Saw a couple of Canadian geese today with 13 ducklings! Each day out there is a new adventure.

Take care, and keep up the great runs, you guys!

Actually the new board probably won't be up until Saturday. Tomorrow is the cutover and it may take most of the day.

No run for me today. 24 miles in this week so far. I'll run tomorrow another 6, then I have my midnight 10k on July 3rd. That should be challenging!! One rather high drawbridge on the route and then all the way out to Honeymoon Island ... wish me luck with that.

Did my running this morning at 6:00, and man, it was already 25C at that time and humid (about 82F) but at least there was a bit of a breeze. My lungs are still being taxed by running in this weather and my legs this week have had a hard time moving. I've never experienced that before. This is only my fourth week running outside and I'm still getting used to it. The course is also very difficult with all the big hills, but nothin' I can do about that. Ok, I'll stop whining now...

I'm off to the cottage after work for the weekend. Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians and Happy 4th of July to you Americans!
