My toenails are really brittle. I can peel them off to trim them, just like ripping a piece of paper. This equally intrigues and disgusts my husband.

I am proud to say that after 2 marathons, I have never lost a toenail. My cousin, who trained along side me and ran the same marathons I did, was ALWAYS losing toenails and to this day still has runners toenails even though she just does leisurely jogs lately.

Oh, and Fighting -- While doing long runs, I try to plot my course somewhere where I'll run by a public bathroom. I know Betty does this too with McDonald's. I admit I've had to squat in the woods a few times, and that's no fun, especially if you don't come prepared with your own T.P.

I wasn't supposed to run today but, I was so overly modivated and wanted to run I did 2.6 miles in 31 minutes. I was pretty happy about that it went well I also lifted weights today. In my log it said I could run today so I did. I am supposed to cross train tomorrow for 30 minutes according to the training so I guess Biking it is and it's gunna be hot as all **** EWW.

You *never* bother me!! Ask anything you'd like!! We're all here to help everyone!!

That's a pretty good pace I think!!! You should be able to easily carry on a conversation while running and not be panting as you go .. if you are panting, you are going TOO FAST ...

YOU'RE DOING GREAT!! Believe me, you'll be doing 13.1 in no time!! Just persist!!

Re: Cool Running for the Week of July 31, 2005

Ok I finished this week with 6 miles this morning. Giving me a weekly total of..*drumroll*..33miles. Whoohoo!!! Rest tomorrow and then I start next week strong with 10 miles.

I haven't had to encounter a bathroom issue yet, I guess since I am quite a tomboy, I could see myself dropping trowel in the woods. Maybe a good way to meet some of my neighbors. *knock, knock* " Hi, I was just in the middle of my 10 mile Sunday run and I wondered if I could use the loo?"**flicks sweat from her brow with a grin**

Sarah--They are Nike Rifts, I got both of mine on ebay. They were available on the nikeid site, but I can't locate them this week. They come in every color of the rainbow and they are very easy to size as they have a velcor heel and top closure for perfect fit. Let me know if you have a hard time finding them, and I will be happy to recomend some places to look.

                  product description from nike site--
                  • Inspired by barefoot runners of Kenya, this trainer/racer offers lightweight flexibility and natural motion.
                  • A split toe creates a powerful push-off.
                  • Four-way stretch mesh ensures a superior fit with moisture-wicking ability.
                  • An articulated forefoot enhances balance, control and power.
                  • Sculpted Phylon midsole cradles the foot, and a heel Air-Sole unit provides impact protection.
                  • BRS 1000 Waffle outsole offers primo cushioning, traction and durability.

Great week everyone. See ya on Sunday!!!

I did 2 loops (1.5 miles) this morning, but I mostly walked it. I just didn't feel like running, and when I tried, I felt like molasses. It took me about 23 minutes. Yesterday was a rest day, although I was in the pool at my parents house for about 30 minutes, so I guess I can call that cross training.

33 miles for the week, Tex!! WOOHOO GIRLIE!!! Checked your toenails lately? Enjoy your rest day!!

Effie, I have lots of days when I swear the moon is full and I can't seem to run worth a squat. The important thing is, you were out there DOING IT, therefore you won the war!! And yes, ANY FORM OF EXERCISE is beneficial, so being in the pool counts! Good for you!!

Speaking of cross training, I decided to use my Friday 'rest day' and go to the fitness center here at work and use the elliptical. I did the cross train program which was 45 minutes of interval training .. I went 4.26 miles and burned 316 calories. A pretty good off day!

Here's a funny: I got on the scale at the gym with my shoes on and it read, GET THIS: 82 pounds. Ummmm, I think its a little off .. but it makes everyone who steps on it feel better!

Tomorrow ... dum-dee-dum-dum...13.1 miles on the trail. DH will ride behind me on the bike and gauge the mileage on his odometer. We hope to hit the trail before sunrise!

                        Saturday 8/6:

13.1 miles done on the trail. Brutally hot out there! I finished in 2:36, not a bad time considering the heat/humidity. 1142 calories burned, 15% fat. 32.1 miles finished for the week. Tomorrow............REST.
