Tex, do me a favor. Think for a moment about your life a few months ago. How far could you run? How much more unhealthy were you than you are today? What were your fitness goals? Got all that? Now, re-read what you wrote and tell me you're not so freakin' impressed with yourself:

Oh yeah, and I did 24 minutes of running/walking tonight. I alternated 1 minute jogging with 2 minutes walking. I went to the park, where I go all the time in the mornings. I've never been at night. It was like a completely different place! Pop Warner football practice was going on, so there were 6 separate groups of football teams out there practicing, plus about 30 kids at the playground, plus some adults playing soccer on the soccer fields. I've NEVER seen that many people there. It was like a whole different world. I think I prefer my solo mornings....

Thanks Effie!!! I just don't want to get complacent. I have been eating a lot this week too and I think I feel like I have to do penance on the road. Also the 150's are right around the corner (161.5) and I feel like if I run hard enough I will finally get to see them. Silly girl. I heart you guys so much!!!

All right, dadgummit, I had a ribeye for dinner .. and broccoli and salad ... & DESSERT!! Well, truthfully, the dessert is IMPOSSIBLE to pass up .. its KEY LIME CAKE ... trust me, EVIL. But since I weighed 93.5 before dinner and I ran 9 miles in 106 heat index today .. well, I felt deserving ...

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. Rach, you rock, sweetheart! Whatever would I do without you guys to keep me positive?? I love ya all!! Sarah, Effie, you da bomb!

Wow, so much going on around here! I've missed you all. This is my first week back after being away for a month. I kept running the entire time I was away. I ran through the prairies, the Badlands of Alberta, all over the Rocky Mountains, around Vancouver and Stanley Park and many places inbetween. I think when I left I was running five minute segments and walking a minute for an hour. I'm now running forty minutes, walking one minute, then running another twenty. I can't believe it. I've been riding my bike to work all week too (10k each way) and am back to all my other stuff (swimming and weight training) this week too.

            You are all amazing!

Reveal--Just saw your post. I am in Texas, but my hubbie and I went to London in April and fell in love. We are already making plans for another trip in 06' and want to take our children for their first trip in 2012 for the Olympics.

Ok just finished 30 min on the mini trampoline. Burned 165 calories and my average heart rate was 118. That seems really low to me. I am going to wear this to bed to get my rhr first thing in the am in order to calculate my mhr and percentages. I love my new toy!!!!

                    see ya in the am

Re: Cool Running for the week of August 14, 2005

I ran 8 miles in 1:22 this morning. I burned 695 calories. That is a new weekday morning high!!! I felt like I could do more, but had to get home to wake hubbie and feed children. I must confess I had some rice last night (don't shoot I have made it thru all of the rungs) and I really think this helped. I am keeping my high starch meals(rice, noodles or potato) to one per week. I think I will need to make it Sat night to give me that extra energy on my long Sunday run. Anywho--My avg hr was 149 and I set my range as 75-80% of my max hr which is 191.2(?)

                      My readings were
                      33.04 min in zone
                      38.5 min above zone
                      10.57 min below zone

I think I am going to up the range to75-85% and make my goal to lower my below zone time.

Let me know if this looks "normal"

                      see ya

Hey everybody! Just stopping in to say good morning.

I still haven't had time to get to a store to check out shoes. I was going to go yesterday during lunch, but ended up having a lunch meeting, so I didn't get out of the office. I'm aiming for today at lunch. Then I can do my first walk/jog tomorrow.

You guys are all such an inspiration. Sarah, your new pic is awesome. Its nice to see you smiling in a pic. You must have figured out that delayed flash thing. Also, look at those guns! Effie, glad to hear you are having a good start to the program. Hopefully I'll be joining you tomorrow!

Hope everybody has a wonderful Friday!

I can't believe I can now routinely run 2 miles at a time. I'm going to try to up it to 2.5 (or maybe even 3) this weekend on a long run, but I don't know if that's increasing too fast or not. Any advice?

(BTW, my interview went well yesterday. We'll see!)

Revea, GREAT JOB!! Isn't it awesome to look back at how far you've come!! SUPER!!

The standard rule of thumb is never increase your distance more than 10% at any one time to avoid injury .. your body needs time to adapt to the extra pounding .. I know, it seems slow, but think INJURY-FREE.....

                            KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Have fun dancing, Sarah!! Burning even more calories!! LOVE THAT!

I just finished a 10.2 mile trail run. DH and I hit the trail before sunup to avoid the heat .. (AVOID THE HEAT?? Who am I kidding?) It was hot, but not AS HOT, shall we say??

Tomorrow is a 5k so that's why I cut back my miles today. But I will have 37.9 miles in this week, so a good total!!

                                Have a great weekend everyone!
