    Hey all,

Betty - Good luck with your interviews! Maybe you'll be able to use multiple job offers in your favor to negotiate the best salary & terms (like, you require at least an hour everyday at lunch to get your run in!)

Tex - Awesome job on the 10 miler. I can't believe you ran in circles for an hour and half, but that's an excellent time nonetheless.

Sarah - You're getting so fast! Isn't it nice to cut back on the miles and see your time improve? I think it's just as rewarding as going further than you've gone before. It's another milestone to celebrate!

Nikki - You might catch up with me on the C25K. I haven't run at all this week. I'm on week 3, but only did 2 days of it last week and nothing this week, so I'll likely pick up there when I do start back up.

As for my sorry ***-- I hate when people say they have no time, but that's my excuse. As I mentioned last week, my work schedule is crazy. I've been working 11-12 hour days, and I'm so freakin' exhausted that the thought of running is laughable at the moment. My sister is also in town from Michigan this week, so I have to call in sick to work just to see her. Wah wah wah. I'm throwing myself a pity party and you're all invited!

Well, DH and I did our second session of Couch to 5K program, and the time went by really fast. My knees were sore abit in the first 15 minutes, but then they adjusted nicely for the rest of the time. Felt really good after, sweaty, but good!

Re: Cool Running for the week of August 28, 2005

Effie, Sometimes life goes like that and finding time to run seems impossible! But I know you...YOU WILL MAKE A WAY!! Maybe just try a mile or so in between chaotic moments?? You need not run a marathon to have the benefit of a good workout!! Do what you can!!

Yeah, you're right; finding a job that will take a backseat to my running is MANDATORY!! My interview this afternoon is a PT position less than 6 blocks from my house .. even though I need a FT job, I'm thinking 'man how cool; I could work 6 hours a day, come home, run my 5 or 6 miles, then have dinner on the table!!' TALK ABOUT TEMPTING!! We'll have to see how the interview goes...

Great job CG!! That's awesome that your knees are adjusting!! Just be sure and take some rest days too!! You're doing fabulous!!

        Have a great day everyone!

Good luck with your interview Betty.

Effie, we all have days like that. Look at my last weeks schedule. It was crazy. You are doing great. Like this WOE, physical fitness is for a life time it matters how you do over the long haul. --Oh and about all those laps. Guilt of not running for 3 days will make you do crazy things.

Well TOM finally came on thru. I was beginning to think that 3 yrs after my hubbies vesectomy I was preggers. No just my body adjusting. I didn't run this am, but I just finished an hour of tae bo (392 cals)

I am going to run tonight as hubbie is picking up some Body Glide for me. Yeah no more chafing or stained clothes.

Keep up the great job everyone and please cross your fingers that my bod is finally going to let me cross over into the 150's this sat.

Hey all, just reading this thread wishing I had something to post. I really need to get some runs in. My stress level is through the roof right now, and I need the break a run would give me. The construction woes are getting to me, money is getting really tight (DW has stopped working) because I'm bleeding money on the addition. I got two weeks to new baby, and about 5 weeks to my half marathon. And I haven't run in about three weeks. I'll be ok, butI need to get training so I don't get hurt. On the positive side I'm about 15 pounds lighter than when I last ran. So that will help. Maybe I'll see if I can run tonight.
                Jim

YUPPERS Jim you get out there NO EXCUSES LOL. It will help the stress level most definately and will also make you feel good. Way to go on the 15 pounds that's totally awesome.

I got my HR monitor it's sooo cool. It doesn't tell you how many calories you burned or anything but it shows HR and I can set it to max and min HR zones so I am sooooo excited to try it out. I jusy may have to get hubby to watch the kids so I can go for a little run LOL. Yes I am addicted I can't help it, I got a new toy of course I want to try it out LOL.

Well I better go have to pick my daughter up from school soon.

                  Take care

Easier said then done, I know Jim, but yeah, go out and get a run in! By the way, your house looks amazing.

Sarah, you're gonna love your new toy! I wear mine when I'm training in the pool too. I just learned I could do that. D'oh!

Good news for me, no fracture in my knees but both kneecaps are severly bruised. I got the stitches out today too where I gashed my left knee right to the bone. I'm thinking of maybe just trying a 5K run tomorrow and if I feel good, I'll try for 10K. I rode my bike to work everyday this week (about 10K each way) and the knees felt good. Still swimming and doing weights. Wish me luck on the run tomorrow! I promise I won't push it!

Diana, that's great news! Now, you take it easy and let yourself heal fully .. we want 100% recovery, ya hear??

Sarah, that's GREAT about the HRM!! You will LOVE IT!! I sure do miss mine and as soon as I land a job, I'm getting me the Cadillac-version!! All the bells and whistles!! WOOHOO!!

Jim, great job with the weight loss!! WOW!! You've been sweating off the pounds on the house I'm sure!!

Rach, let me know how you like the Body Glide. I've talked to alot of people who really love it. I may invest in some before the half marathon. I am sooooo wishing a big whooshie comin' your way this week!!

Well you guys, I have 4 (FOUR) potential jobs ...can you believe it. I've been so stressed with the job I quit, then felt better after quitting, then stressed because I no longer had a paycheck, then stressed sending out resumes, then stressed cuz nobody was calling .. now this week, all 4 jobs have come through and now I'm stressin' over which one to take! Actually I still have a couple of final interviews so I can't make up my mind just yet. Can you believe that?? I TELL YA, ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING!!

So, to ease my stress, after dinner digested, I ran 5.2 miles tonight. It was cloudy and cool (albeit humid as a sauna), but at least no sun, so it felt kinda good. Lots of joggers out tonight with me!! My miles for this week SUCK, but between job interviews, getting dressed up, then dressing down, and answering phone calls, etc., well, you get the picture I've been pretty busy. Plus DH has been very sick this week with a bad cold so he's been undertow around here.

We're headed to Ohio Saturday for the holiday weekend. We're going to Cedar Point in Sandusky, our all-time favorite amusement park on the planet (which is quite a compliment coming from people who frequent WDW and Sea World and Busch Gardens on a regular basis) .. CP is STILL THE KING!! Anyway, I won't be running my 13.1 on Saturday, but the hotel we're staying in does have a fitness room (would Betty stay at one that didn't??) so you can bet I will spend alot of time there before we head out for our days at the park. I only hope I can stay away from those incredible french fries and homemade chocolate shakes and frozen chocolate bananas at CP ....

Ooooh Betty, have fun at Cedar Point!!! Is the Millenium still the biggest, faster roller coaster there, or is that wimpy now? I was there about 5 years ago. I'm a roller coaster freak, and I was almost too scared to go on the Millenium. Luckily, my sister made me go, and I loved every minute of it! We just rode the Superman roller coaster at Six Flags a few weeks ago and that had to be the biggest thrill ride I've ever been on.

Speaking of thrills, I booked me & DH a trip to go Whitewater rafting on the "Dead River" in Maine for Oct. 1. I went 2 years ago. I'm sort of dreading the wet suit that you have to wear. 2 years ago I was about 20 pounds thinner, and even then it was difficult to wedge myself into that wet suit. Gah, nothing like a little public humiliation for motivation!!!

6 miles in 53:43 this am. I am speeding up. My AvHr was 152 (this is dropping from 156-57 last week)

Sarah, have a blast with your new toy. My hr has been much lower this week I think a sign of a real shift in my body.

Diana--Sooo glad you are going to be better soon, don't push too hard.

Jim--Can't wait for pics of your fresh baby, we will be counting the days. Please squeeze in a few miles if you can or your half will be a killer.

Effie--How goes your running this week? Is your sister still in town? Can she run w/ you?

Betty--TOLD YOU SO!!! We knew everyone would want you!!!! Less miles this week means stronger miles next week. And as for avoiding temptation at CP you of all people know this is a for life situation, so maybe choosing one of the most tempting (with portion controll) would not be too out of line. JMHO. I am sure you will forgo it, but I don't think it outside the scope of maint. to have a treat twice a year or so.

Way to go everyone keep the pavement pounded.

Thanks Effie, we can't wait!! Actually Millennium Force has now been outdone by Top Thrill Dragster ... its zero to 120 mph in 3 seconds I think?? Something like that. Go to their website and check it out www.cedarpoint.com. DH and DD cannot wait to ride it. I'm still debating... Last time we went (in 2001) we rode MF 3 times, front seat, back seat ( ) and in the middle. I LOVED THE FRONT SEAT .. OMG, when it gets to the top and pauses a half second and you look STRAIGHT DOWN .. Well lets just say your bladder had better be empty or your pants will be full .. I told DH I screamed and the spit went into my ears!! The speed was so fast, it ripped DH's contact lense in half so he had to wear glasses for the rest of the trip! This time, we are packing lots of extra contacts!

Your whitewater trip sounds AWESOME! I've only been on one in my whole life and it rocked!! HAVE A GREAT TIME and don't worry abit about the wet suit!! Besides, there's your motivation to get out there and RUN between now and then!

Thanks, Rach, for your encouragement with the job .. now I just have to try and decide what to do. Meanwhile, I am going on this trip and going to forget about all the stresses and just scream my lungs out on the roller coasters! WOOHOO!! Oh girl, don't tempt me with the thought of eating those terrific french fries ... OH GAD, THIS IS GONNA TEST MY ATKINS COMMITMENT!! I'm already thinking "well, all that walking, standing in line, etc., *should* entitle me to a frozen banana, right? I mean after all, they *are* high in potassium..."

I'll be running later today I hope .. Gotta start deciding what clothes to take this weekend .. Its gonna be COLD there (highs in the mid 70s, lows in the mid 50s) HOLY COW WHAT A CLIMATE SHOCK WE'RE IN FOR!!

                            Have a great day everyone!

OK did my 4 miles ran at a pace of 4.7- 4.8 MPH it was awesome tried out my new HRM it was awesome but, I have to tighten the strap LOL. My HR was between 159 and 166 a few times it got up to 170 but that was when I was fiddling with my MP3 player LOL. I was in the higher end of the Arobic zone so I am thinking pretty awesome. My perception of exertion is not there I don't feel like I am really pushing that hard Funny hey. I upped my speed today other wise I woul;d have probably been where I am supposed to be. It's funny I don't wanna run slow any more my body just wants to go go go.

Hey everyone! Well, I went out and ran today for the first time in almost two weeks and the knees felt pretty good. In fact, I ran 8.5km. I was really slow on the way home as it's all uphill and I was feeling it. I made sure I did lots of stretching after. It felt so good being able to run again. Maybe I will be able to do that 10k run in a couple of weeks, but I'll play it by ear. So, by tomorrow I'll have cycled 45kms, ran 8.5kms, swam 1km and did three hours of weight training. Not so bad!
