WOOHOO Diana!! That's a fantastic accomplishment!!

I'm not running today .. haven't felt too well .. not sure why, but sometimes ya just gotta let the body rest. I did do 110 crunches on the exercise ball and also my weights for the upper body.

I'll be out there tomorrow though!!

        Diana--amazing.

Betty-- did 7miles with speed intervals every 1.5 miles for .5 miles (one mile cool down at the end) and I am happy to report NO CHAFING. My arms usually really pay when I am pumping on my hard laps, but not today. I am loving my Body glide.

I may do 3 more tonight to bring me up to 30 for the week, or I may do some Tae Bo tomorrow. I am pretty sore at the moment, dang speedwork. I did concentrate on form and tried to have more turnover as opposed to lenthening my stride which is what really made me hurt the last time I tried this.

I hope everyone has a safe healthy weekend. Enjoy the break from your jobs on Monday if you can.

Tex that's totally awesome I haven't had chaffing lately thank goodness I hate that it's very painful I do have my 9 miles here this Sunday so I am hoping I don't get any we'll see.

Today is 3 miles and then rest day for me I need it for sure, well I guess I can't really say it's a rest day cause I do weights.

Seems everyone is doing great. I haven't seen Nikki wonder how she is doing?????

          Have a great day everyone.

Re: Cool Running for the week of August 28, 2005

I finally got my road/race bike properly fitted for me and I rode it to work today for the first time. On my mountain bike it takes me about 16 minutes to get to work (just under 10Km). Well, today it took me 10 minutes! I haven't been on this bike outside ever as I got it in the winter and just trained on my magnetic trainer, then injuries...blah blah..then I had to get it fitted to me. Anyways, it's so fast and I totally wasn't using it to it's potential at all as I was relearning it especially after riding the mountain bike. I managed to get my shoes unclipped when needed and didn't wipe out *knocks wood* which was my biggest fear. Can't wait to ride home!

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Run went good 20 minutes uphill it wasn't a speedy run but a challenging one, I finished in a littel over 40 minutes so I am happy. I was sweating like mad.

Okay, so I made it 6.2 at high noon. I am crazy for sure. My body was like 'hey its Friday, that's an off day' ... NOT THIS WEEK.

My miles for this week are PATHETIC. I am so looking forward to a weekend in the 70s!!

I think I hurt my knee. It's a minor injury LOL. It feels a bit achey today but, I am not running so hopefully I won't be too wrecked for tomorrow. Darn it. It didn't hurt till I twisted funny outside when I was barbecueing. It felt like It went backwards and last night it was pretty sore but, today it's not too bad a little achey. I hope this doesn't hamper me but, if worse comes to worse I'll drop my milage so as not to hurt mysel;f and increase next week. It's not a race any how it's about being injury free.

Funny thing I never hurt myself running it's the walking that kills me LMAO.

We got our 3 day of the first week of the Couch to 5K program done this morning. Believe it or not, it is starting to get a bit easier. Hot day here today, so I really sweated, and a cool shower was a pleasant necessity. Hopefully week 2 will be even easier!

I love it that there are so many people doing Couch to 5K! So exciting to do things together!

Anyway, I have not really had time to check in this week. Work has been so busy. I have completed my 2nd week of C to 5k and will start week number 3 tomorrow morning. It looks a bit more challenging, but I know I can do it!

When I started this C to 5K plan, I did it just to start running, to get in shape, etc. I never would have dreamed that I would run an organized race. Well, a new woman started work in my department this week. I was speaking to another coworker about my Thursday night walk/jog, so I explained to the new lady what my plan was. Well, she ends up asking me to do a charity 5k with her. And before I knew it, I said yes! She's getting all of the details for me, but I think it will land around my 7th week of my plan. And its a charity thing, so I'm not too concerned about running the whole thing or anything. It kind of freaked me out when I said I'd do it, but the more I think about it, the more cool it is! It will be a big acomplishment, no matter how I do.

Ok, so I just got back from doing my first day of week 3 of couch to 5k. 5 minute brisk walk, then two repetitions of 90 seconds of jogging, 90 seconds of walking, 3 minutes jogging, 3 minutes walking. Went well overall. Last week's plan only had 90 second increment jogs, so upping it to 3 minutes seemed huge to me. But I did it. And I survived. And I will do it again.

I'm already looking ahead to next week on the plan where it ups to 5 minute increments of jogging. Now that seems impossible, but I will do it. I do have one question though. On the plan, starting on week 3, you have the choice of going by distance or time. On week 3 you are supposed to jog 3 minutes or 400 yards. On week 4, you jog 3 minutes or 1/4 mile. Does 400 yards equal a 1/4 mile, or are you supposed to up your speed week 4? I'm going by time, as I am a horrible estimator of distance. I really don't think I was jogging 400 yards in 3 minutes today though. That's 4 football fields!

I went by time when I first started if you can do the 3 minutes that's totally awesome keep going. I wouldn't worry about speeding it up yet as you don't wanna overdue it and it seems like you are liking the running so stay with what you are doing. As your time increases so will your speed you don't wanna up the speed too fast or your body will hate you for it.

I finished my 9 miles YES 9 Miles I DID IT WOOOOOOHOOOOO. Who's proud of me I am I am. Ya how excellent. I thought I was gunna die the last lmile I really felt my body wanting to quit on my but, I pushed up the speed and cranked the last mile out, my body didn't like it but, my mind was saying don't quit now GO GO GO. SO I did. I am aching and sore but, I did it and I am PROUD of it. YA BABY. Nexy week is 9.5 Holly cow I am really starting to up the milage I hope my body will be ok with it all I'm sure it will be I am stubborn but, I will cut back if I feel I need to. Here is to this weeks running.
