  • Re: The Goalie's Challenge Exercise Thread

Did my lifting today and my situps with some cardio tacked on.

good for you. A soreness all the time that is strange as by now those muscles should have grown stronger. Must be you are growing some bigger muscle tissues in your arms too.

When I was just treadmilling to keep from eating I slowed the speed down to 3.5 MPH so I could type and treadmill at the same time. your spped is fine. Many bikers go by cadance ( how many pedal strokes per min and 90 is good. then when you are ready for HIIT buiking you can sprint a min at about 120 and then drop back to your normal cadance. what is your cadance now?

i really have not counted the pedal per minute, 2ibg. if i peddle at a slower rate i can do 8 MPH , at a medium pace i will make 10 MPH and when i am running at my fastest (so far) i am going 12 MPH. that's how i log the time into the pres challenge also. the 8 mph days are when i have done my other exercise and want to cool my jets or add something. the 12 mph was before i we started the reading project. i can't go that speed and read. i am sweating too much and concentrating on the speed. how that equals out to peddles per minute i have no idea. i have my tension set on 4 right now. 6 is too much of a strain on my knees....already tested that theory.

oh boy the race is on to the top of the towers

Jimmie if you got a timer with seconds just count the times your right knee is up for a min and that is your cadance do it a few times during your bike to make sure you didn't go faster or slower cause you were counting.

i don't have a stop watch that works but i can test it by looking at my clock in the bedroom. (battery and moveable from room to room) there isn't a clock in this room cept on the computer. i'll check it today and see what i come up with.

sal, glad we at least got to number 80 together! i have to say i am enjoying this challenge very much. jack comes in at night and knows exactly how many flights he did while working. he is coming along nicely too.

he cut out candy bars for the most part and dropped about 5 pounds doing it. i keep working on him! maybe he'll be a goalie one day too!

(chuckles)...2big... the only race I'm about to take on right now is to get my cushions in before it rains! Hope this means an end to the hot and humid spell! A storm's been building for days, but never quite cracking.

Give your Jack a pat on the back Jimmie for his climbing and losing! Great stuff!

Am still on track with all my 'moving' routines.

woo hoo for Jack. What you going to do when you are both goalies

I hear you on that rain we are in a drought and all mothers gardens need watering and since sh so loved to water we never added any sprinklers to them so now I'm stuck watering them all cause she just can't focus enough to even water one at a time.

see he has a very high CCLM. there was a fellow on TV and he was talking about adding just one serving a day of a food every day and how many pounds one would gain in a yr. it was staggering cause they were very common high carb foods.

Good job on the steps ladies, you are so motivating!!! Jimmie, it's neat that your DH "does" it with you even though he's not "dieting", at least it's something you cna share and talk about, KWIM? Kudos too him even for cutting out the candy, I swear 20 of my last 30 were JUST about that, very little else in my eating habits changed, but I could sure down the sweets.

Still can the legal ones. Will be working on that soon, I can see it becoming a maintenance problem

Will check in late tonight, AFTER I work out this time
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

myjack has always just been there to urge me one, ms. he eats what i eat and even gets into my peanut butter and now he's eating my low carb chocolate ice cream b/c i am supporting the no caffeine challege buds. i just add mash potatoes or french fries to his meal and everybody's happy.

2ibg, i did my experiment. i was tired from my doing my workout. i am telling you, my arms do ache.... not hurt... but ache. i know i am working the arm muscles if nothing else.

                          the cadence:
i went 10 mph and got 62 peddles in tension set at 4
i went 12 mph and got 76 peddles in tension set at 4
went 15 and flew to the next house......
went 15 and got 90 peddles in but... i lowered the tension to 3. can't do 15 mph at 4 and live to tell about it.

aching the day after is from the muscle micro tears you make working them. this is good for growing muscles but not good for feeling. maybe if they stay achey you should roll the ball back a little towards your head until you can do them not achey all the time.

flew into the house next door wow!!!! like ET on the bike?
if you back the tension off a bit and go more RPMs in your cadance your legs and your fat burning will likw you better. must spinn classes say 85-110 is the good to exercise speed. i know back in my biking days i used 90 as my riding cadance.
