  • Sarah's Bodybuilding 101 week of March 13th

    I have had a lot Of interest in my routines and so decided to start up a thread to help People who wanna know what I am doing and what I am doing to help others.

    Proper Form is the Key of Bodybuilding if you don't have good form you may as well quit now and Go home. All the basics of Bodybuilding stem on proper execution. No swinging, No swaying and most of all if you arch bend contort twist swing to get the weight up you are NOT doing it Properly. You will not build a good solid base by doing this and are cheating your muscles as well as setting yourself up for serious injurey. SO if you are not willing to learn the basics of Building which is FORM then you may as well not be here. I am sorry if this sounds harsh but, I have seen time and time again people cheating themselves from great gains by doing it wrong or injuring themselves cause they want to do it the quick way and go heavy straight off without proper technique and form. This is one of the reasons we have started this thread to give others the basic Knowlege of Bodybuilding and start it Slow.

    The Beginner Program is Just that, Basically it gets your Body used to exercises and helps you impliment proper technique and form in your lifting abilities. THIS IS SOOO IMPORTANT and I cannot stress this enough. The first 6 weeks is a lighter training program built mostly for those Who have Never lifted weight and who do not have a basic Knowledge of weight lifting. With this Program the first 2 weeks is easy, weight is not Stressed and FORM and lifting heavy will come later. You have to learn proper form it dose not come for most naturally it has to be learned. The most basic postural alignment can be quit hard, staight back shoulders back chest out this is basic. if at any time you move away from your alignment then correct and continue. It takes time learn to align properly for your exercise execution and you will really have to think as you lift. If you are lifting your your biceps and you feel it in your back, you are misaligned a simple adjustment and that stress will be gone.

    It the beginning Program we do 3 sets of 12 repetitions. Have a weight that is not too heavy as when you are learning you do not want to compromise form as a rule. Lift a weight that is easy to do for 12 repetions if you have a mirror you can set up to see yourself you will have an easier time knowing if your body is tilted or if you are lifting Aqardly. you want to be sure to do each repetition slowly and controled, count if you need to 1,2,3 up 1,2,3 down no dropping the weight and you body should not shift as you lift or drop the weight. It should be completely controlled and you should feel it in your target muscle group.

    WE will do a basic Layout like this.
    Monday Upper Body
    Tuesday Cardio
    Wednesday Lower Body
    Thursday Cardio
    Friday Upper Body
    Saturday Cardio
    Sunday Rest
    Monday Lower body

    The Cycle continues for 6 weeks then we will get into Building defining and Shifting our body into the shape you want.

    For each Muscle group we will pic One exercise for each body Part On Upper Body days this will be,
    Chest, Triceps, Back, Biceps, Shoulders

    For leg day we will do exercises for these Groups.
    Quads, Hamstrings, Calves, Abs

    This is very basic and will seem very easy cause it is it is not my goal to start to throw you into something you ahve no idea about, it's about doing it properly slowly and learning proper form and technique. The nasties come later after we have taken the first 6 weeks to prep you all for the Best body of your Life.

    K I did Legs YAY me I was sweating like a mad woman Holly crappers I was lifting some Pretty good Weights today YAY. It was all in all a good workout I feel great about doing it but, I still hate legs.

    This is How Leg Day went:

    Leg Press Drop Set 110lbsx8,100lbsx6,90lbsx6,80lbsx6 (no rest between sets)
    Deadlift Drop Set 120lbsx12,140lbsx10,130lbsx10,120lbsx8 (no rest between sets)
    Standing Claf Raises Drop set 140lbsx10,130lbsx10,120lbsx10,110lbsx8(no rest between sets)
    Rear Squats 100lbsx6,100lbsx6,100lbsx6,100lbsx6 (1minute rest between sets) I can't belive I used to carry this much around every day Holly cow that was heavy
    1 Legged Ham Curls 40lbsx8,50lbsx6,50lbsx6,50lbsx8 (1 minute rest beteen sets)
    Seated Calf Raises 140lbsx10,140lbsx10,140lbsx10,140lbsx10(1 minute rest between sets)
    Front Squats 90lbsx12,100lbsx10,110lbsx8,110lbsx8 (1 minute rest between sets)

      Today was Curves and 2 miles (jog/walk but I was pulling a 3 year old behind...rope tied to his wagon like thingy...geeez, the sweat! He LOVES the running parts, which are all uphill!)

      Still working on form with very low weights - I feel like I am doing homework looking at the paper and the computer so often but it is sinking in!

      **So far I am only learning the exercises animated on the body for life page. Anything wrong with that?**

      I bought some new weights with the dumbell handsets so I will be adding my weights toward the end of this week if my forms are looking good. I am sooo excited still and so proud to be doing this! I'll probably burst a vessel when I actually add weight cause I'll be so excited!

        LOWER/WEIGHTS

        Leg Extensions (40lb X 3 sets of 12)
        Stiff Leg Deadlift (50lb, 50lb, 60lb sets of 12)
        Seated Calf Raises (20lb, 20lb, 30lb sets of 12)
        Single Leg Raise (3 sets of 12)

          WOOHOO Girls way to go you are doing sooo Aweosme Lifting is extremely rewarding cause you see changes in your weights and your body all the time isn't it wonderful.

              YA where is Joy and Why isn't Jennifer Posting I guess we are gunna have to hunt them down. I know Jennifer was im my Journal probably didn't get around to posting tonight and Joy I ahven't seen her for a couple days.

                  Question: I am reading about the Slim in 6 dvds. How would that fit into my work out regimen? Is it cardio for the in between days? Give it a try or just hold off? I am still at Curves for 2 months so maybe after that?

                    BAD me Jennifer I get busy and forget to look. Good on ya your legs are sore WOOOHOO PROGRESS way to go girl.

                    As for the sI6 videos do it after your 6 weeks or do it as cardio days between your workouts it does supersets so it gets your heart pumping also works your legs out so don't expect to be able to walk for 3 days after HE HE. Only follow each video for 6 week cause your body adapts very quickly and you will find your results dwindle after that time. If that makes any sence at all.

                    Has anyone seen Joy I am worried hope everything is all right.

                        K just finished my Workout my Triceps are on FIRE!! Burn Baby Burn.

                        Bench Press Dropset 10x60lbs,10x50lbs,8x40lbs,8x30lbs (no rest between sets)
                        Tricep Kick Backs Drop set 10x25lbs,10x20lbs,10x15lbs,10x10lbs (no rest between sets)
                        Decline Dumbell Press 10x20lbs,10x20lbs,10x25lbs,10x25lbs (1 minute rest between sets)
                        Seated Tricep Extentions 8x30lbs,8x30lbs,8x30lbs,8x30lbs (1 minute rest between sets)
                        1 arm cable Crossovers 6x40lbs,6x30lbs,6x30lbs,6x30lbs (1 minute rest between sets)
                        Tricep Press 10x60lbs,10x60lbs,10x60lbs,10x60lbs (1 minute rest between sets)

                        Holly My triceps and my CHest are burning. I need to up the weights in a couple of things like Bench press OH MY!! I am gaining strength really fast here WOOHOO.

                        Can't wait to see some more new Muscles.

                            LOL I broke a sweat doing it does that count ROFL. My triceps are soooo on fire OH man they are gunna be sore tomorrow. I figured after legs yesterday I would be a total wreck but, they are not too bad must mean I need to up the weight more GOOD LORD!!
