  • Cool Running for May 21st to May 27th

I'll start the thread since I'm here.

5 miles this morning, slow @ 55:26 but only 14 hours of rest since yesterday's run. (but the key was no walking at all)

After this morning's run I was down 7 pounds from yesterday morning, I know it's mostly water, but it's still nice.

3 weeks exactly until first race of the year, and I want to beat last years time of 48:05 for the 8k. And I want two place closer to the top 50% (or at least better than 66% from last year). But to do that I need to get lighter than I was last year so 21 pounds to go.

That's awesome Sarah, and best part of those pics is that there is someone behind you.

5 miles this morning, 55:58 touch slower than yesterday but much faster coming in than going out.

Almost put off the run until tonight, fought off the excuse demon, DW was still sleeping, did the dishes, got my running clothes, got the awake kid his milk, put on the running clothes, got another kid her milk, put on my HRM, told DW I was running, she said do the short run, I almost said ok, but then determined said no 5 it is, the rest is history.

Re: Cool Running for May 21st to May 27th

Rest day today for me. Did run yesterday. Only 2.6 painful, sllooowwww miles, hence the rest day today. But that made it four days in a row which I haven't done since I restarted running last year.

But I'll still get something in, I have golf tonight so there a couple of mile walk, plus I'll probably walk during lunch as well.

Abreeva works great, a bit pricey but works great. Lysine a vitamin works well too, take 4-5 a day until it is gone. I take one a day all the time to prevent them, but if you get an active one, 4-5 lysine will dry it up quickly...

Good luck I hate cold sores, and they can be very painful...

6.3 miles plus a slight detour past not one, but two alligators in the same pond. One was about 8 foot long the other a bit smaller. The big one was less than 20 yards from the sidewalk where I was running, so I chose to take the HIGH ROAD until I got past him. I was hoping he wasn't eyeing my legs and thinking ".....yum.....appetizers...."

Wow what a difference my rest day yesterday made. Like I said before, 4 days in a row is more than I had ever done. But today I felt GREAT! 5 miles, hit my stride about 1/4 mile in (instead of 2 miles in). But took 7 minutes off Moday's 5 mile, so from almost 12 minute miles down to 10-1/2 minute miles, 52:36 today. So I think my 9 to 9-1/2 minute miles should only be a week or so away. Then my improvements slow to a crawl, but that's when the real work begins. Besides I'm still a bit heavier than I was last year at this time.

20.2 miles since Saturday, I think I can officially say I am back.
