    Betty,

When I was at Sam's Club (like a BJ's or Costco) I spotted a water bag, holds 2L, and you carry it on your back with a siphon hose. Looked good, and the price was $19. I'm not to the point of needing one yet so I resisted purchasing it since I had $450 worth of meat in the basket as it was.

Thanks for the HRM infomration, I'll check it out.

    Carole

5 miles in about an hour and 30 minutes, slower than usual but I am trying to stay at 60-70% of max HR. Thanks Betty for the push :hug

Carole, that sounds like just what I'm looking for. I don't have a Sam's card, but there is a Costco around here ... I'll see if I can find something there! This trying to run with a bottle in my hand isn't working! :nono
Hope you find just the right HRM!!! Polar is the best!

Susan! GREAT JOB! So glad that push got you going!! That is SUPER! Its not at ALL about speed .. build your stamina and endurance by going longer....stronger....and the speed will automatically come!! Meanwhile, you'll burn more fat! HOW KEWL IS THAT??

you can buy camel backs at most sporting goods stores around here. Some of them are so nice and small. I seriously am thinking about investing in one as well. DH has one but it's a huge backpack, i just want to water and maybe a pocket for my keys and phone.

I like that one too, but .. (I confess...) right now, I got one heckuva good tan going on my back and shoulders and I hate to cover it up!! Not only that ... its so blasted hot here ... the thought of wearing something on my back to make me sweat more?? :yikes

I'm still kinda thinking of the canteen you wear on your waist like a fanny pack ... I gotta do something though ... this heat is getting SERIOUS ...

What do you think of this??

I understand about the tan part. Personally I have to cover up more than I would like due to my fair skin. Already have had one cancer removed and I think I have at least 3 more ready to go as well.

That one is cool. I thought you would want to carry more water than that. You might like this one. http://www.camelbak.com/rec/cb_prod....;selector=true

Thanks, Susan for the great info! I'll be ordering one soon!!

Finished 8 miles in the rain .. it was cool, but humid, so I had a personal best time of 1:36:49. Fastest ever .. pace was 12:06 per mile for the whole 8 miles .... :joy :joy :icondance Felt strong until the end!! Burned 697 calories and was out of my zone a bit, but didn't mind cuz I was out to finish fast!! (okay, fasTER..) Anyway, I am pooped, but ready to go out for a big juicy steak!! Can't wait!

Hope you all have a great day!

So close to 4 miles per hour. Most of the time I stayed in target heart rate but because the path is so hilly I actually went up to 80% for about 5 minutes each lap. I am thrilled. Anyway I hope everyone else is doing well.

Betty great job on the running! I am not quite ready. I ran for about 2 minutes today and my heart rate got up to 91% so I say I better stick with walking for now. :yes

I did my route this afternoon and bf came along.
I don't think I'm going to invite him anymore *pout*
The skinny little ((*&^% ran the whole route...and he doesn't do any exercise at all!! :anger

Thank gosh he did say "That's a long run!" or I would have wrung his 118lb little neck.

I've worked so hard to get up to the distance that I'm doing now and he just floated along as though he does it every day. He slacked off majorly when we were supposed to be doing warmup and cooldown stretches, so I can only hope he's sore as heck in the morning.

He did comment that his left knee didn't like the run too much, and seriously, I do hope he's ok because he's had some problems with that knee before.

Love the guy dearly, but geez...he could have faked struggling a bit, right?

I would try the Running Room Sarah, they're right accross canada. They have a website with their products listed. And if hte one near you doens't have what you want in stock, they're more than happy to ship it in from another store, no cost. I had them do this with my HRM. I also buy all my shoes there. they're very knowledgeable. Hope this helps.

6 miles, Susan!!! AWESOME!! Girlfriend that's tremendous! And what a great time too!!! :joy You are rocking!!!

Moochie, girlie, don't you let that BF get you down... show him a thing or two .. you keep at it and you'll have him eating your dust soon!! (See I refuse to ever let a man beat me ... I'll collapse first!!) :yes I hope his knee is okay though (well, maybe just a "wee" bit of pain for awhile, aye??)

Okay, gang, I ordered the water bottle holder from polar ... it was cheap so I figured why not ... I'll let you know if I like it ... its a start at least!!

Typically I run 6.2 on Thursdays, but not today. I have to go into the office for a lunch meeting at 11:00 and have to get laundry done this morning because we're headed to Disneyworld tomorrow for the day to meet up with some friends!! So I'll get plenty of walking in tomorrow, no doubt about that. Then my usual 10.24 mile run on Saturday.

I'm excited that my new running shoes are on the way, finally, after having to be special ordered. I got them from www.onlineshoes.com the same place I got my last pair, but these are a different style of NB. I hope I like them!! If you haven't checked out that website, I encourage you to, because you pay no tax and no shipping and the prices are great!
I've got 216 miles on these current shoes, so I am definitely ready for a new pair. And all 216 miles have been on that nasty concrete! :help

Hope you all have a terrific day today and tomorrow!! I'll be checking up on you come Saturday to see how you're progressing!

                                KEEP AT IT!
