I was absolutely horrible to my little girl. She wanted me to quit. She just kept quiet and took the abuse. I made it thru it. She did too. I exercised. I screamed. I cleaned house. I screamed some more. It is not easy, but you can do this. You just have to want it really bad. You don't wont to smell like and ashtray anymore. You want to breathe again. You dont wont stinky breath. Most of all You Want to LIVE!
That is so true!! I have heard the tobacco companies have doctored up those cigs alot in the last few years to keep you hooked on them...
Funny how they put out ads on not smoking and yet they are killing you at the same time when they make them. I wonder how many of those top executives smoke or their family? I bet very few...
God gave us all a free will to do with what we want so it is our choice to smoke or not to smoke! I finally choose not to smoke!! Johnny :guns
I'm toying with the idea of quitting with you guys. I don't smoke much, but my big thing is smoking in the car. I cannot go anywhere without lighting up. I don't smoke at home. I feel like its more of a habit than an addiction, but I may be wrong. I'll think about joining you guys. Maybe some of your success will inspire me.
I'm curious...how much do you guys (or did you) smoke a day? I'm about a 1/2 pack a day smoker.
Originally Started May 29, 2003 and lost 96 pounds. Fell off the wagon and gained over 100 pounds back. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

Well I got up to about 2 packs a day at my worst point and when I was getting those terrible morning hacks and going totally nuts when there was not a cig to be found in the house I decided ok this is enough for me!! Johnny :guns
I quit 6 months ago, I smoked 17 years and 2 packs a day, I feel 100% better and now I am losing weight. You can do it. Go to www.whyquit.com and read Brains story, he was 34 years old when he died of Oat Cell Lung Cancer. Take a look at his before and after. Although he is no longer with us, he kept have me inspiration to kick ash for good =).
I really want to quit too...but it's just so hard :anger
I have been smoking for 11 years now, and it's just something I do to relax (it really makes me feel good) I know in the long run it won't! I used to smoke 10 cigs a day (going to clubs, cafes) now I only smoke up to MAX 5 cigs. I don't want wrinkles, and I hate the smell (not when I'm smoking) but when it's on my clothes or jacket and I walk by it smells like I just passed an ashtray...sick!
So yeah, I want to try! How about Monday? Ahhhh...I am afraid I can't do this though!????

When I quit, (6 months before starting Atkins)...I used cinnamon sticks. They really helped me until I was used to not having a cigarette to reach for. You can do it. It becomes easier and easier each day that goes by...GOOD LUCK to all of you who are quitting.

I'm about half way through "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking" by Allen Carr and it's making scary sense. I read a little each day and let it soak in. Recently I read about how after I quit and I smoke after that I should look at the cost of how much smoking costs in that one cig. So let's say if I stop and then start again that 1st cig is the equivalent to $28,000. So Higgies, if you get the urge just imagine mounding thousands of dollars into a pile and lighting it on fire because firing up a cig now is exactly what you'd be doing. Congrats to you and all that have quit! For those that haven't I really recommend the book I'm reading, it's really helping. I don't have a quit day yet, just reading the book slowly and at a comfortable pace for me.

I'm sending good vibrations to everyone who is in the process of quitting. I didn't ever think I could do it, but I did. It was the best thing besides losing this weight that I've ever done for myself. Write down some affirmations and say them to yourself everyday...to encourage yourself not to light up again. It really does get easier although the first few weeks are the worst. Come here, take walks, run, exercise, drink water...whatever it takes to keep from starting back up. You deserve to be as healthy as you can be!!

The most important thing Allen says in his book is what has me ready. Smoking does nothing for you! Absolutley nothing! It does not make you less stressed it does not make a meal better. It does nothing for you! And that is the way I will look at my quiiting journey, I am not giving anything up but rather gaining everything!
