I am fabulously happy I quit. The cravings are coming on a bit stronger. I will likely gain back 10 of the pounds I have lost in the next few days but that's ok I am doing something fabulous and I can work off the pounds.

Everyone was burnt to a crisp for one and last night my son was in the bay and tripped over something cut up his foot and hand real bad. I know when to cut the losses and come home.

I am so proud of you all. I will be watching you. :hug

I'm on the countdown...only 7 cigarettes to go until I'm out. At this rate, I'll be quitting by noon tomorrow. YIKES!

nikki you have the wrong attitude. Not :yikes but :joy. The easy way to quit smoking is to be happy about it. Get excited and every time you think of smoking say Yippe, I am not a smoker! I am free! So far so good for me.

I'm hoping the :joy attitude will happen once I am done with this pack and actually see the end. Its kind of hard to have that attitude while I'm still doing it. Maybe its wrong of me to finish off this pack.

I say finish it off except for 1. For now just smoke and really be paying attention to that smoking, breathe deeply of the nicotime and taste how nasty the smoke is, how it burns the back of your throat. Smoking does nothing for you but you have to learn that before it gets easy to quit. So smoke up and think about how great it will be to be rid of the addiction. I tore up my last cigarette as a symbolic battle that I have already won.

Ok, just had another smoke, and it does taste nasty. I also just realized that I am flying out on Wednesday to stay with my dad for 6 days...which will help because I can't smoke at my dad's house and I will be with him 24/7. Good timing.

I'm still here! Didn't make it through the day without a single, but today it was only one. I have had one in almost 24 hours. I have patches and gum, but have decided to try to do it without, and I am actually feeling better than I thought I would! It is weird, I'm thinking about it, but I don't feel like I am thinking about it as much as I usually do when I am "quitting". I made it to the gym today, and I think that helped to, for some odd reason.
Anyway..........Spirit, great job........when did you start? Nikki, yeah, those last few go pretty darn fast! Though I could never make half a pack last a day or two anyway! I am a pack and a half smoker a day.
Jimmie and Lauren, thanks for cheering us on.

Goddess I started Sunday night. The trick is when you think about smoking or the craving pops up instead of thinking I want a cigarette think Yippee, I'm free or Yippee I am a non smoker. The reason most people fail or feel miserable quitting is they convince thenselves they are actually missing out on something. The only thing they miss out on is cancer and nasty breath and sore throats. Smoking is not enjoyable. The only thing that makes up think it's enjoyable is the relieving of the craving. Smoking is pleasureable in the sense of banging your head up against a wall just so that it feels good when you stop.

I do want to make it clear to EVERYONE that even one little cigarette draws out your misery. Cutting down is a myth. You body will not need less nicotine just because you provide it with less smokes. You are only drawing out the agony of quitting by cutting down. Every time you feed the beast even a little nicotine you have to start all over tell the beast no.

Avoid smoking completely and be very positive about it and you will beat the brainwashing and psychological addiction. The physical addiction is pretty much gone in a week and completely gone in 3. Just like the sugar demon many of us carry around the only way to beat it is to STARVE it completely.
