That was a beautiful post. I used to step out when I worked for the phone co. for a quickie. I missed the chance to run outside but never the smoke.

I can now smell it on people who have just smoked one. It turns my stomach not only the smell on them but the fact that I used to smell like that.

    • I'm new but would love to do this with you all...

Hi everyone, I'm new to Atkins and this board and am "lurking" and saw this thread...

      Can I join too???

I quit New years for 3 months, gained weight, not due to quitting but to an injury, than gave in and starting smoking again. I am now doing Atkins (I also posted a journal today too) and would love to join in here as well. Why not kick both "habits" at once..

I am in Hong Kong so there is a time difference, but really need support to overcome these challenges..

I smoked my last cig 30 minutes ago, and that will be my last...

I love this site.. you guys rock....

      • K little Bug, I am gonna give you some good news. It will be easier today than yesterday. And tomorrow even easier still. As long as you never ever doubt your decision to quit smoking this will be pleasant just like Allen said. One thing I have been doing which has actually helped is going outside when I normally would. Going outside and getting away from my desk was pleasurable so I continue to do it because I do not want to feel as though I am missing anything. I love the outdoors and if my I don't get to go outside anymore I will feel like I have lost somnething positive, ya know? Plus it helps me to see the other smokers and know that I really have won the war.

          • Carrie you absolutely can join. Bug and I have discovered the secret to quitting that makes it easy. Wanna know what it is? Be positive. make a solem vow that you will never ever ever put any sort of nicotine in your body ever again, and everytime you feel the physical craving say "yippe I am free."

                • I haven't changed any of my daily routine stuff. Plugging along as normal. I'm going to leave here in a little over an hour for my math test and I'm really relaxed about that. I realized that I went all of yesterday without a headache. Welcome Carrie! Don't make the mistake I did! I lost 81lbs and while I was thinner I sure wasn't healthier! I'm starting to feel 100 times better though. Finally starting to feel the benefit of losing all that weight! :icondance

                    • I think I did o.k. I'll have my scores by the end of the day. When I left the building to go to my car there was a guy in front of me walking and smoking. I really did feel sorry for him. I'm still thinking about it constantly though. Pretty soon it will be a non-issue though and I won't be obsessing over it. Starving out that nicotine monster and feeling great about it! I don't doubt my decision for even a second.

                        • My husband said it will eventually go away completely. And that makes sense. Non-smokers don't think about smoking, I'm a non-smoker now and the longer I remain a non-smoker eventually I won't be thinking about it because it will be a non-issue. Does that make sense? Lol. The book explains it a lot better. I'm glad I highlighted some stuff in there. The people behind our tri-plex smoke and I've smelled some cigarette smoke here and there but I can also hear their hacking coughs. One guy has it really really bad to where I think he has to hack really hard just to get the lung power to light up! At least my cough is productive and cleaning house properly. Thanks for letting me vent my thoughts here everyone, it really does help tremendously. And for all the encouragement and understanding. :hug
