Yay Lauren is a mod! And very well deserved I may add! :icondance My sister-in-law called this evening asking me to watch my nephew tomorrow from like 6:30am to 3pm and I almost said no but I thought "Life is life." and said yes. If nothing else he'll distract me from my thoughts. He's only 1 and a 1/2. I'm going to be busy busy busy!!!!!! Maybe I should start a journal of my own instead of rambling like mad here. Nah...I doubt anyone would be very interested if I started a journal. Probably get lonely and cobwebby in there all by myself. :geek"Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

I'm on day 3 of being a non-smoker and while I still think about it a lot it's not consuming my thoughts like before. Plus I've got my little nephew here so that's helping. He's sitting in my lap as I write this and he's laughing at the dancing smilies and "talking" to me. He's a crack up. I think I might go ahead and start a journal tonight, if nothing else it will help me to sort my thoughts. I've always been a pretty private person so it's hard for me to open up. Even just being in this thread talking about becoming a non-smoker is hard for me just because the way I was raised. I know it doesn't have to be a tell-all so I'll try to have fun with it. I'll go snoop around in some other journals today and see how some of the pro's do it! How's everyone else doing today? Doesn't nikki come back today?"Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Rhonda,
I am not a sharer either but I find journals a lot of fun. Even if it is just a place to track your weight.
Sure smells better in here doesn't it. I am so proud of you all.
Thank you all for your kind words on becoming a MOD~Lauren~
support? Isn't it time to give some back?
Ask a mod how today.

She does, maybe we should all PM nikki to make sure she comes back.
You know this quitting thing is almost a non issue for me. Every once in a while a craving will pop up but they are becoming very few indeed. Like 2 or 3 times a day. I feel wonderful and I definitely do not envy the other smokers. One of my coworkers is gonna buy the book now because of me.

You know what? I'm only on day 3 (almost 4) and it's suddenly becoming a non-issue for me too! Once you start to starve the nicotine monster the less control it has! My husband, who was once a smoker, is such a great support to me. My Mom and Sister are cheering me on but they have never been smokers and as much as I appreciate their support, my husband has really made a world of difference. And for those out there who are not blessed with the same support, we former smokers, are here to give you the help and guidance you may need. There is no such thing as a "confirmed smoker" you can be free. I have escaped...so can you."Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

I'm on Day 4 today and going strong! Having my ups and downs. I'm thinking about it less but it's still consuming a lot of my thoughts. I know eventually I'll be back to obsessing over other things, like everyday life, but right now I'm just trying to stay positive. Remind myself that the withdrawl symptoms are something to enjoy because it's the purging of the poison out of my body. I don't doubt my decision at all but that little nicotine monster in me needs to shut up and die already. He's on day 4 without food so every day his voice is getting weaker. I sound like a freakin' fruit loop don't I? Well...at least I'm a happy fruit loop. Last night with our steak we had broccoli topped with cheddar cheese. I couldn't believe how great the cheese tasted!!!! Like for years I was just eating the equivalent to the shadow of the cheese but last night I got to really eat it and Wow! I'm noticing that with a lot of my food, how I was really missing out."Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Sheesh...I'm so goob-tastic sometimes... How's everyone else doing? Even if you've stumbled or are coasting along happily with us new non-smokers let us hear about it! :hug"Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Thanks Lauren! I just hope I'm helping other people. The kids and I went to the grocery store today and there was a guy sitting on a park bench out in front of the store smoking. And I thought to myself "I'm free! I escaped that!" When we came home I was amazed at how well I could smell the "after rain" smells. I also noticed the dark circles under my eyes and the varicose veins on my legs improving. Every day seems to bring new little surprises and every day I realize how I made the right decision. I'm only on day 4 and it's so exciting to have all these great new things happen. And honestly, how is everyone else doing? This isn't the "All about Rhonda" thread ya know! Hey! That might make a good journal title for me. Like the Happy Bunny sticker that says "It's all about me!" Happy Bunny cracks me up!"Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

I am doing great. Today while working I had to stand really close to a smoker and I smelled just how nasty he smelled. Oh god to think I used to smell like that. :vomit
I am glad you are doing so well Rhonda. I think we can safely safe all the hype about the EASYWAY is not hype at all but the simple truth eh?
