I'm doing okay. Injured myself (muscles in back & neck again) in one of my water aerobics (advanced) class a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to do much of anything. The doctor finally said I can go back to lifting my arms again so it's back to the milder aerobics tomorrow. Good timing, since the Century Club exercise challenge starts tomorrow.
I just have to remember that I'm no *spring chicken* and need to pace myself. I attend a Senior's aerobics class just before the advanced class and am so energized that I feel that I can do another 45 minutes. I don't have any problems with the advance class as long as they keep it in the regular pool. It's when they hold it in the *Lazy River* and we work against the current of the river that causes all the problems. So I'm going to forego this class, until winter time, and maybe stay in the regular pool and walk and swim laps.
How's everyone else doing?

Rhonda, sounds like you have a great exercise routine going! I know how frustrating it is to get waylaid by something--I had a terrible cold last week and went many more days than usual without any kind of workout. I missed it! Back at it now, though.
I just ordered a new kayak that is a huge upgrade from what I have--it's due in on Tuesday and so I will be getting out to the river a lot--95 degrees out or not! How can I resist trying it out?! Kayaking is not just fun, it's great for upper body conditioning.
Peggy, I have to say how much I "envy" your "get-a-way" place. Sounds beautiful and you didn't even describe it in that much detail. lol My husband is an avid bass fisherman and he is outdoors a LOT all year. He fishes regardless of the weather so it's an "all-round" sport for him. I enjoy being outdoors and love to camp. We have some great spots within a couple hours of our home that we enjoy. My problem is that we have to take two vehicles when he takes the boat. lol I hope within a year or two that we can buy the kind of camper that you "drive" and we can pull the boat behind it. That's my vacation dream!! I have no doubt that we will probably be living on the lake when we can both retire for good, but I would still like to take the camper and travel around a little.
I've never tried kayaking but have watched others do it. I can imagine what a workout it is.
Rhonda, your water exercise class sounds fun. We have a pool but I have to admit that I don't get in it as much as I should. You've inspired me to do better.
As you all can see, I've had to change my "stats". Recently my father has been in the hospital and I "caved" to the pressure of living in a hospital room for days on end. He is better now and hopefully I'll get back to this WOE and lose the weight I put on. I wish I had been stronger and I could kick myself but things are settling down now and I WILL get back to where I was ASAP. I've also resigned from being a mod. Just had to let something go and it wasn't fair to other mods that I not carry my responsibilities. I will be around as a regular poster because I'm going to still need the encouragment and support of my friends here.
So, that's how I'm doing ---- (she says shamefully). :sadblinky
I've really enjoyed reading about everyone. It was good to hear from Mapasone (Michael) and also Jimmy. I'm SO thankful Lynne (Desertthorn11) is back from overseas safely. Also, 2big is back and doing a fantastic job on the board. This feels like the old "safe and warm" place I've loved for a long time. I also see that Perry has been added on this forum. WOO HOO!!!! He'll be a "fun" addition to these "old" folks. lol
I loved reading all the updates ------ thanks everyone!!!

Glad your dad is better. :hug Do you need any whip cracking to get you back exercising and eating right or have you grown strong enough to handle that by yourself :grin ( got my cyper whip handle still) Sorry you resigned and didn't just take a leave of absense during this crisis. But plain Janice's posts can still carry just as good and powerful a warning or encouragement message as Mod Janice's do. :yes
pssssssssst You didn't say anything about how that darling new to you granddaughter is doing.
2big, you're so sweet!!! YES, I need that whip just to get me started. Once I've gotten started it will be okay and I'll take off from there. Right now I'm saying Monday FOR SURE!!
My sweet Katy is doing great! She began a three day a week pre-school class this past Monday. I still pick her up at 1:30 those days and have her all day the other two. She's SO smart but ----- don't get me started. lol lol She'll turn 'two' in early September. It took about 18 months to get the adoption finalized but she is now ours. Julie and Jack just received her "new" birth certificate a few weeks ago.
Let me just say "one more time" how much I LOVE seeing your face very time I read one of your posts. It was so long in coming and I still smile every time I see you. lol You're a walking "Atkins" success story for sure and you are so cute, girl!!!! I love your hair and wish mine was straight like yours. I got my dad's natural curl and I've fought it all my life. lol
You take care and I'll definitely keep in touch --------- I just LOVE this forum.

I keep forgetting that you are old enough to be posting here. I thought you'd never make it but "time" has a way of catching up with us. lol I love you too, girl!!
The people here are the greatest and we've all watched each other progress, or "regress" in my case, on this WOE. It's so wonderful to have people you can relate to who have had the same struggles and who have the same "problems" --- like night sweats. lol
I love all these people and hope to keep up with everyone in this forum. We need to try to get others posting here who are "age eligible". lol Like I said, maybe Perry can liven this place up a little. I was happy to hear from Michael and I don't know Jimmy but I'll be watching for his post from now on too. I even bet Bren will be posting here sooner than she thinks. lol How old is Bren anyway???
Getting back to the subject of cottage cheese ----- I wish I liked it. I have enjoyed tomatoes this summer and also what we call "yellow squash" or "summer squash". YUM!! I guess I should try that recipe with the cottage cheese and Splenda that Jordan mentioned, it sounds kinda good. Maybe my taste buds have changed. I really need to remember that this will have to wait until after I lose the extra weight and get back to OWL. It's induction foods for me for a while. I find myself looking forward to getting back to induction. It feels comfortable --- like an old glove. lol
Everyone take care and keep in touch.

WOW 2big! I don't think I have ever seen any of your posts--I would remember those pictures! You are definitely not "2big" any more!! You look so good!
Janice, I'm glad your dad is better. Don't worry about the backsliding while in the hospital, you'll get back to where you were in no time.
I'll be so glad when summer's over here--we have been in the mid to upper 90's every day, with accompanying humidity, and it puts a serious damper on ALL outside activities. My exercise videos are getting a lot of play these days. Only another month or two of this heat, hopefully....
Hey Peggy, might I be so bold as to ask how old you are?? Speaking of looking GREAT, you DO!!!
You started about where I did but you've come much farther than me. Even when I tried going back to induction foods after the first of the year, I never got below 150 except one time and that didn't last. My body seemed to be very happy staying around 153 or so. I didn't mind either but I never have gotten to my 145 goal. I wear a size 14 in pants but can get in a size 12 shirt. I think I did buy one pair of size 12 pants but they were probably made "big". lol You've just done such a great job. You've inspired me to get going again. Thanks!!!
I know what you mean about the humidity. We are having a nice "humid free" weekend right now. How about your area?

Thanks for the compliment, Janice! I'm 53. My turn: how old are you?
I bet you are having the same hot summer we are! Yes, we are a tad cooler and less humid this weekend. My new kayak finally got here on Friday--it's a beauty!--and I am hoping the weather will hold. I intend to head out of here early tomorrow morning to see how it does on my favorite river.
It sounds like your body doesn't want to go to 145. My original goal was 130, but now I'm thinking that's not going to happen. I stretched it to anywhere in the 130's, but even that might be too low. I'm a solid size 10 now (8 in Tommy Hilfiger--they are made BIG)--I expect to level off soon. I weigh myself once a month and I was surprised this month to see a loss. I think I'm nearing the end of the loss phase and will just strive to maintain.
I'm back home. Spent the weekend housesitting/babysitting for my DB while he took SIL to Mississippi, for her birthday, to gamble. They had a break in a few months ago and don't like leaving the house unattended. Beside, the my "nieces & nephews" freakout if no one is in the house. The babies, all 8 of them, get lonely without them. (Note: the babies are 4 legged :flowerki: , 3 inside & 5 outside.) So "Auntie" Rhonda has to keep them company! Even though I'm allergic to animals, I don't seem to have TOO many problems with these babies for days on end. Now, my DD house is another story! She has 7 :flowerki: inside & 1 :wolfie outside and I can only spend about 15-20 minutes in her house before I start wheezing!
I got my back and neck problem straightened out and the doctor okayed me to get back to exercising. Wouldn't you know it but I turned around and got a little sore when I started doing strength training. So I iced it down. Then I started having muscle spasms that lasted 2 1/2 days! GRRRRR! :bang This is driving me crazy! :speechle: So I'm back to just my water aerobics classes. Not only am I NOT a *spring* chicken, I think I have reached the *fall* stage and totally skipped summer!
Peggy, how was the new kayak?

There is no kayak report! Woke up this morning to very dark and overcast skies, so there was no point in even trying. This is our forecast for all of this week and into the foreseeable future. Needless to say, I am BEYOND frustrated! While the kayak is nice to look at in the yard, I didn't get it to be an expensive lawn ornament! Between the 95-degree temps and the rain nearly every day since the end of June, I am working on some serious cabin fever here (I have a home office so even when I am working, I am still confined to the house)! (Meanwhile, my brother in Ohio also just got a new kayak and regales me regularly on his glorious trips in sunny 75 degrees, complete with photos...) :anger
I even had the thought this morning that if good weather wasn't going to come to me for a long time, I would go to it, but it seems I would have to drive pretty far north to escape the rain and heat. So I have resigned myself to just having to wait it out... :sadblinky
Thanks for listening to my rant! 'Round about October I might be on here telling you about the maiden voyage of the beautiful kayak!!
