    Re: 50+ and determined!

Just to add --- I recently had to change doctors due to Dr. M's retirement. I went with a younger 'lady' doctor. She is very 'okay' with Atkins and told me to go ahead. I'm glad I decided to get a younger doctor who is open-minded and can look at statistics from every angle. She is encouraging me which helps A LOT. I want to make her proud of my loss and can't wait until my next appt. when I get on those scales. Several years ago when I lost 50 lbs., my blood work numbers were excellent. How can doctors see that and not know this is not harmful in any way and, in fact, a healthy WOE.

QueenSultana, I love your pictures. I gotta say that I have two Boxers and they are our babies. One we got when she was a puppy and the other was a rescue around three years old. We recently bought a king-sized bed so there would be room for four. lol

Oh so glad I got back to this discussion... and thank you all for the wonderful advice. I will check that group out Imagood!

SO nice to meet you Janice! We got Champ when he was a pup also AND had a female rescue too! She was older than Champ and we lost her to cancer a bit over a year ago. I know what you mean about not having any bed space. You know what is funny... I used to sell furniture and we sold bedding as well. 9 out of 10 people that bought king size were buying so they had more room for their dogs. ha ha! From what I hear, the dogs still cuddled up next to them or laid on their legs... ha ha ha!

I recently signed up to get out of my stall (Stallbusters United) and get back into induction, but to be honest my mind is more on finding things both my husband and I can eat as he is diabetic too, but he is very thin and I don't want to starve him to death! I am busy reading all about Diabetes and worried about my husband as his blood count is twice what mine is!! He just saw the doctor yesterday and he has a new med to start taking. I am finally going to talk to her on Wednesday finally to find out what I am supposed to be doing. Maybe after I get this all straightened out, I can focus more on "induction" again and getting out of the "stall".

Will post again....to let you know. Thanks so much, guys, for easing my mind a little about the "brain and kidney damage" thing. It certainly threw me a wallop!

        Re: 50+ and determined!

Update: I am Mom2Boxer now and ditched the QueenSultana name. I am Mom in most forums I belong to and thought the change would be fun, but my DH said Queen sounded like a strippers name! LMAO!

I used my Elliptical today for the 2nd time for 20 minutes... thought it would kill me. Whew! Did a bit of walking outside and have been trying to get more water down. For some reason I am bloated... (hope it isn't the coconut oil)...and it's hard to swallow any more food or drink since I had dinner. I'll keep forcing the liquids down though. I think the coconut oil is keeping me full actually and not as hungry.

Tomorrow I plan to be shoveling mulch into a flower bed. It was warm today but too wet to mess with the mulch. We have had rain for days here in Virginia.

Hi, "Mom" ... nice to meet you; got a big chuckle about your screen name change ... QueenSultana, the stripper ... heh heh! You're a hoot, and so pretty! I've was offline for a couple of months so it's nice to see who's joined the fold in the meantime

My doc freaked out when he found out I was doing Atkins, even though my cholesterol and weight dropped. , dude! Most physicians don't seem to be very hip to nutrition, in general. A pity. It's up to us to educate them, I guess!

Hello Norah, the Whoosy Fairy! I need for you to give me a whoosh please! LOL!

Oh it is soo nice to meet someone with a sense of humor! I am sure we will be great friends! Welcome back online!

I know what you mean about the doctors being behind. I went with my husband on his visit to the doctor and we just love her, but when I mentioned low carb diet, you could see the "alarm" in her face. She held her tongue ... but, I get to see her on Wednesday, so this should be interesting. I need to find out if I have to take meds and I am going to tell her I still low carbing "brain damage or not" .... LMAO!

              Re: 50+ and determined!

Update... I measured again... it's been 8 weeks since I started on a low carb WOE and I have lost 10 inches! Woo Hoo! Half of that is in the bust area...which is okay by me! LOL!

I have been exercising more - using my elliptical trainer every other day and working in the yard on nice days. I added berries on occasion and whole wheat or low carb tortillas/pita/Carbquick on occasion. This week I added low carb fudgesicles. I am cooking more with Coconut Oil.

I am sooo happy to say my blood sugar has been reading under 120 all week.... I know that exercise has played a huge part in lowering my blood sugar. I started using a bit of Coconut Oil at the same time and I can honestly say it has given me spurts of energy.... otherwise I would not have gone out to do any mulching or digging (the eliiptical has been a shock to my muscles! ...LOL!)

So, all in all I am pleased! Hope everyone is having a great week!

                Re: 50+ and determined!

M2B, I missed this one, too.

                10".... awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I have moved up the OWL rung and have been having whey shakes occasionally. And I have even sneaked in 1/8 cup of blueberries.

I'm going to move on up so I can legally eat the berries.

I've read some very nice things about the elliptical machines. Since the weather is getting nicer now, I am going to try to do most of my exercise outside... walking, yard work and gardening. I really don't have room for an elliptical. I already have the bicycle and little torso developer machine in my living room!

I'm very pleased to read your progress.

Again, sorry for taking so long to respond to you!
