          Hi, everyone,

I just saw that I have been assigned to team 5 and am really glad to have support from others and help where I can. I lost 73 pounds between Dec. 2002 and May 2004. Since May I yo-yo'd up and down 10 pounds, not by eating high carb foods, but too much of the allowed. My big problem is appetite control. On Dec. 17 - for the first time since I began two years ago - I ate some cookies and it was downhill from there. What followed were chocolate, ice cream, french fries, boiled potatoes, bread and more cookies. I stopped taking the supplements and drinking water - and basically stayed in bed most of the time, only getting up to eat and go to the bathroom. Luckily New Year's Day gave me a motivation to get my act together. On Jan. 2 I weighed myself and saw that I had gained 16 pounds during those last December weeks. Since Jan. 1 I have only eaten turkey breast and pork roast and have been drinking water. Today I weighed in at 145.5, but I know that it will not be possible to continue losing at this rate, even to get back down to 134 where I was mid December. I need to exercise, which is somewhat of a problem, because I had a botched hip surgery in September and will need a revision in March. I am in a lot of pain when I exercise. Nevertheless I am committed to do what I can. Just got to get started there too.

Welcome Marji! Sounds as if you have done great on Atkins! We are glad to have you aboard.
I hope everyone has a good day.
            How about that water?
Well, I managed to maintain last night despite having made stuffed peppers for my family.
I made a great mix of ground beef, cheese, and threw in a few pieces of pepperoni. I had that along with some salad, put the kids to bed, went walking with a friend and came home and made deviled eggs!
Hope everyone had a good night.
Today I need to go with a dear friend to the doctor. She is being diagnosed with diabetes, and is very upset and afraid. For Christmas I bought her the Atkins Diabetes book. I am very concerned for her and think this can be an incentive for all of us to get the weight off and live healthier lives.

Hi everyone - and a special wave for Marji :wave glad to have you join us!

We had 'wooshie pie' (hamburger and cheese pie) with boiled courgettes (zucchini) and grilled cherry tomatoes - delish :yummy

I have had about 2 litres of water (70 ounces) so far and I have just refilled my jug so should get through another 40 ounces or so while reading all the posts here. I hope everyone is managing their 'quota' :capital
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Checking in after a yummy salad of turkey breast, 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 cup ruccola, 1/2 small avocado, 1 tomato, 1/4 red pepper, 1/4 cup broccoli, a bite of tofu, 1/4 cup white radish, 9 black olives, olive oil and red wine vinegar and stuffed celery with Roquefort and cream cheese. Breakfast and lunch were turkey breast. I drank 64 oz. of water. Too many carbs for induction, I'm afraid. I hope my weight won't be up tomorrow because of that.

Update after weigh in today: + 1.5 pounds. I know about daily ups and downs, but I know, too, that this gain was because of the salad yesterday evening It's so damn discouraging.

Marji, don't forget we start on 11 th.

So till then , drink your water, planify what you will eat , make plans for food water and exercise.don't let anything discourage you, nor the scale.I know that you want to be ok in that morning and you will be!

Write what you want to do and on that morning you will be ready.Don't discourage yourself , it will be Ok !!!

It's the moment to start mental preparation for this, to read the once again DANDR, to prepare the equipment for the long trip we have.

                    Good luck !!!

                      Dear Marji.
I hope you are having a better day. My advice to you would be to put the scale away for awhile and only weigh once a week at the most. You will most certainly have fluctuations day to day due to so many factors that are out of your control.
Please take it from me that if you follow the rules of induction as they are written and stay committed you will loose weight!
If I can do this, I know you can too, and that is what we are all here for; to support each other!
Hang in there and have a great day.

I managed to get through yesterday and most of today. Yesterday was really bad. I was sooo hungry, even during the night, when I usually don't have hunger attacks. I forced myself to stop after pork roast, 2 hard boiled eggs, a 1/2 cup of broccoli and roquefort with cream cheese. Today so far I have only had pork roast and 1/2 red bell pepper. I still have dinner to go. Am I the only one here who doesn't feel full doing Atkins and still has to fight with appetite control? I often feel hungrier after I eat than before, even without any high carb foods. <sigh>

                            Hello all!
As the board has been down this evening when I usually spend a few hours reading and responding to posts this is just a quick visit to check in with my buddies.
I cant remember how long you have been on induction Marji but some people find they dont get the 'appetite suppression' thing till a couple of weeks into it.
Maybe you are not hungry but thirsty?
Apparently the body signals are the same for both and so many people say if they have a drink of water the urge to eat goes away. Might be worth trying that?
And try to ignore the weight fluctuations if they start you worrying about doing it right. My weight varies by 7 pounds during the day but I just look on that as 'interesting' not as being something to make me upset!!

and Pesi - welcome to Onederland!!
:joy :icondance :joy Don't forget to destroy your visa to return to Twoterville!! LOL

marji , maybe you don't eat enough during the day?
You have to have a biiiiiiggggggg breakfast , a big lunch and then in the evening you will not be so hungry and manage to eat ,but not very much. That's how I do.I force myself to eat more in the morning, although I am not a morning person , then I am not hungry but let's say at 14:00-15:00 when I eat again much at least enough to feel full and then my last meal is at 17:30.And that's all.I go to bed at 22:00.I get up at 6:30.I eat breakfast at 7:30-8:30

That's how I do.And do you eat also fat?fat eliminates the cravings and protein makes you not hungry.

Try to see !I see you eat more for dinner and that day with turkey breast is not enough for breakfast at least, what to say about lunch.
Remember the cheese has also carbs and they can be more than you imagine.Watch the cheese not to be too much.

Breakfast and Lunch - the most important and eat !!!

Another tip if it does not work like this is to eat from 2 to 2 hours.
                              For example 7:00 ,9:00,11:00,13:00,15:00,17:00

So you have several meals, you divide your normal three meals and eat at these hours. You can change if you want for 8,10,12,14,16,18.The most importnat is to keep the 2 hours pause and to stop before I should say 18:00-19:00.
I had difficulties at the beggining because everytime I had to eat , but believe me I lost pounds in fact. And I was not hungry.I just forced myself to eat.

                                Dear Elizellen and pesi,

Thank you both for your tips. I'm pretty sure what I feel is hunger and not thirst, but I will make an extra effort to drink water when I feel the hunger. I've been averaging 64 oz. since I began (again) on Jan. 1 and have stuck with induction the past 7 days except for Jan 5th when I had too many veggies and too much cheese to stay under 20 carbs. I'll watch out more with the amount of cheese, a weakness, as is heavy cream, which I love. Yesterday I had about a pound of pork roast (maybe a little less) for breakfast, more pork roast with 1/2 red bell pepper for lunch, pork roast as a snack and for dinner with jello made of 32 oz. of diluted coffee and 4 tpsp. of sweet cream. Today I want to try some salad again. I've tried eating every four hours or three meals and then in between whenever I feel really hungry, but not the every two hours whether I'm hungry then or not. The problem is that I feel hungrier after I eat than before. I eat and chew slowly, so it's not about gobbling down my food. I use olive oil and butter and cream and don't go out of my way to buy lean meat and fish. Thanks for your help. I can use all the help I can get and piggy back on your experiences and what has worked and works for you.
