Re: Join us for Yemenitegreens Extended Induction Challenge Jan 16 thru 29th

I didn't do so well today. I didn't cheat. I just didn't eat enough or drink enough water. I lost a nephew late last night and have been depressed today. This is 17 days cheat free for me, on extended induction until I can't stand it anymore. I did accomplish some exercise though.

It sounds delicious. Do you volksmarch. I had more fun doing that when I was there. I did over a 1000 ks, had my books and everything. They have volksmarching clubs here in Washington and I am trying to fine an event not in the rain.
We still don't have many malls, a few in the center of the city, and malls are boooring because most have the same range of stores all over the country. No, I don't do volksmarch but I love hiking. I prefer to be in the nature on my own or with few friends, I can't stand crowds and too many people around me make me nauseous.

      Duck soup:
I start with a duck (obviously), cut off legs (reserve for another use) and breast halves. The carcass and wings go into a stock pot with a carrot, 2 leeks, 1 piece of kombu, 1/2 small sour apple or crabapple, 3 cloves of garlic, 1 stalk of cerely. Simmer for 2-3 hrs.

The traditional way would be to roll up the breast halves in cling foil, skin to the outside, jellyroll style, and freeze them, then slice thinly and add to the soup (as last ingredient floating on top). I prefer duck breasts grilled, roasted or cured as ham, so I'll reserve somee of the meat left on the carcass and maybe tiny pieces of the breast. Strain the broth (though kitchen towel), discard the solids. Season duck stock with some soy sauce. Things to add to the soup: duck meat, bok choy and chrysanthemum leaves (shungiku), grilled tofu cubes, some fresh bamboo, chopped, a small leek, cut in strips, sliced shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage to taste, shirataki / konnyaku noodles are fine, too.

I love the taste of the duck stock and it is a very economical dish, on maintenance I might add some shiro miso to that

Re: Join us for Yemenitegreens Extended Induction Challenge Jan 16 thru 29th

Yesterday was a bit of a challenge. The fridge wasn't working, so alot of the stuff got thrown out. The freezer portions was only freezing in the bottom half. DH had to have appetizers for dinner because they had thawed, and I had meatballs for breakfast and lunch and some plain chicken wings for dinner. No veggies because they had spoiled (fuzzies starting to grow) . The service man should be here tomorrow, and then I will be able to load the fridge Saturday. It's such a pain because the fridge is only 5 years old, alright it would be a pain anytime LOL.

I'm drinking my water. I exercised. I didn't cheat. That's about it for today so far. The scale this morning said I gained a pound, but it'll be gone tomorrow.

Yesterday I was sooo hungry. Still my eatings seems to develop in waves, days without being hungry, days I feel I could eat half a cattle and then some. I've noticed similar patterns before in cravings... last year I had a time I was craving mozzarella cheese, in induction I found I may crave homemade mayo...

            Anyone notice strange cravings?

Yesterday was tough for me also. DH bought bananas and there is nothing I like more than a beautiful yellow banana. So I ate it. Damn. Back to day one.

18 days cheat free for me! I'm re-reading DANDR and he's in there talking about bad foods and I'm thinking how good that would taste...THEN I think that if I indulge, I'll have thrown myself to the wolves and won't touch anything I'm not supposed to have. One day at a time, one day at a time.

Well, Ive been chest free for nearly 3 weeks now...but Im having blood sugar issues with it bouncing around from way too high, to way too low. BUt Im working on it and not giving up. Went to the movies last night and DIDNT eat popcorn...drank a bottle of water...and its hard to break that association with movies and POPCORN!

Thats my biggest accomplishment this week, I think! Great job to all!

You ready for the game tomorrow Deb? Woooooohooooo!

I'm only staying on strict induction til the 24th, but i've been doing really well. last night I went out to dinner and the sauce on my scallops was a sherry/papaya sauce, so I'm pretty sure there were carbs in that, but I just tried not to eat it. It was a very light sauce, on the plate not on the scallops.

I'm on extended induction of the STAC variety.

This sounds like such a mini accomplishment but its huge for me. I just made two cookie pizzas and an ice cream cake for my dd's party and didn't taste, didn't lick, didn't absorb any sugar.

This group of kids travels to each other's houses for parties and each mom is asked to fix the specialty that this group has decided each one does best. I guess the above is my specialty.

I thought it was steak and salad!

However, the smell is tempting so I escaped to the computer room with the doors shut. DH has said that not one bite is allowed to stay in this house after this party. He's hiding in the bedroom. But then, he usually does when it's our turn to host a teenage party

Today is a good day. I was up early and went to the farmer's market and bought ribs and sausage. The ribs are in the slowcooker and I made a pizza with a thin sausage meat crust for breakfast, and had the leftovers for lunch, very good, but also filling. Right now I'm not hungry, so I might eat my ribs tomorrow, DH will definitely have his tonight, I have to stop him from opening the crockpot lid.
