Morning Glory - Excellent!!! Move onto dairy! Good Stuff. I love the Dannon Carb Control yogurt 3 carbs, my brother works at a healthfood store and just order a case of Fage Greek Yogurt. I'm really looking forward to that, everybody speaks so highly of it, plus I think I can control the splenda input, I am waiting on the liquid sucralose to come in the mail anyday too!! Have fun on the dairy rung, try some cheese's you've never had before too!! I had bleu cheese the other day on a steak......kinda weird taste...haha! Cottage Cheese yummy. Still read ALL your labels though!

Everybody is doing really great! Glad to hear you all concur about cheating!!

Tryingagain - no worries sweetie, dust yourself and try even harder! We believe in you too!! You can do it! You want to do it!

          Good Mornin Everyone

I'm fairly new to the ADBB (joined it just this week), but already have had so much great support...so a big thank you out there to everyone who has responded to my posts! Thanks Scooter for the "pep" messages, they really help!

Thought I should post on the STAC forum as this too is my second time around at Atkins. The first time I did not meet my goal weight, fell off the wagon, hurt my head was all scratched up etc... This time I have my seatbelt on so I'm good to go

I'm still on the induction phase even though its been more than 14 days as I kinda strayed a few times. But I've got my heels dug in and am certain (with all your help), I can get through 14 days cheat free now.

My mini goal is to be 15lbs lighter by June 25th for my youngest daughters grade 12 grad. I have lost 6 lbs of it so far. Its good for me to have short term goals as it seems to be for so many of the group.

Soooo, we can do this all together, although I think I may be one of those who used their "one golden shot" of losing lbs quickly the first time on Atkins. My fat cells are wise to me and they have banded together inside making weight loss slower this time around. But thats okay, it is what it is and I have the rest of my life to lose my weight as I am making Atkins my eating lifestyle. Its not a diet.

Everyone be good and Stay Sweet!

              Re: Thursday - Roll Call

Strudel, welcome to STAC! The person who came up with the 'golden shot' theory should be shot! I really, really think that how much you lose on induction depends on how much water you're retaining. Retaining a lot of water = lots of initial weight loss. If the 2nd time around you're not retaining so much....then maybe you won't lose as much.

Don't spend any more time on induction than 2 weeks though...moving into OWL will probably get you to lose more rapidly anyway. I do recommend that you do extend your induction just a teensy bit longer to kill that sweet tooth.

I've been reading Dr. Atkins Vita Nutrient Solution....L-Glutamine is an amino acid he prescribes to his patient. One of the reasons he prescribes it is for the people with the sweet tooth. He recommends mixing a tspn or two into heavy cream and sweetner, and I tried it that way...it really really does nip the sweet cravings in the bud. I also tried it in a bit of 4C brand drink mix with Splenda. Works great that way too. You might want to look into it. Get the powdered kind, not the pill form.

                Good Morning All!

I am a sporatic poster at best but I am a regular reader and have gained so much strength through this board. Thanks for each one of you for being involved and sharing. It is great to not feel like I am going it alone. Although I guess I am on extended Induction I have decided to really track everything I eat and will attempt fit day. I was very successful on this diet a few years back, so I thought I could "eyeball everything" and keep track by estimating. I don't want to wonder why I stall. This needs to be an exact science for me to really learn about what my body can handle. Mini goal - 10 more pounds by the time my vacation starts on 6/16.

                Have a great successful day!

                  Re: Thursday - Roll Call

Good morning, all. Just checking in to say hi. I slept in late and haven't worked out yet. Definitely need to for my emotional and physical health today. Bikeride and mowing the lawn when it warms up some out there; I need a huge dose of Vitamin D from the sun.

I'm happy to say I drank a LOT of water yesterday, I think it was about 13 16-oz bottles (I started losing count after awhile.) Sure needed it!

Sandy, try not to sweat any weight gain from lifting weights. In fact, consider it, and the sweating of persperation, a blessing. I hate sweating, too, but am learning more and more that we really want our bodies to have the ability to do so. It's another body function that's simply good for us.

Hey there, Kimmers. I applaud you! We may lose little battles but we're going to win the war! Simply because we refuse to be defeated! You rock, Girl!

Strudel, I thought I used my golden shot but sticking to induction faithfully paid off for me on the (ug hum) well, more than second try!

                      Hey all!

WOW there are 8 members viewing this thread right now. That is AWESOME!!!

I TOTALLY agree with Joy on the strength training. Don't be afraid of it! Strength training has really morphed my body. I used to be INCREDIBLY apple-shaped, but now I've got the start of a nice hourglass. And it makes everything else easier because you have the strength to do it. Yes you might gain a pound or two on the scale, but you'll lose inches. I weigh 186 but I wear size 10/11/12, thanks to strength training. If I had my choice, I'd probably run everyday I could for exercise, but I know that strength training is neccessary if I want to have a smokin' hot body. And it's REALLY satisfying when I'm lifting heavier weights than the guys are!

So today is a good day! I had an awesome breakfast--a medium apple with 3 tbsp of chunky natural peanut butter, and a piece of mozzarella. It was a nice change from the usual and it left me really full. Must be that peanut butter. I've got a great lunch packed, and after work today, I'm going on a 6 mile run. Hopefully it will be warm and I can catch some rays. I'm so pale, I need SUNSHINE!

Have a great CHEAT-FREE day, STACers!

                        Re: Thursday - Roll Call

                        Happy Thursday Everyone!

I seem to be a sporadic poster as well but I do log on and read everyday. I got a little derailed the other day too…had 2 chocolate chip cookies and a glass of whole milk…It was sooooo good but I immediately felt like a failure! The feeling of eating something off plan lasts only a few seconds…maybe minutes in someone else’s case but I ate those cookies like I was in prison and someone was about to try and shank me for them!

So here I was yesterday reading the post about cheating and feeling like a big looser…the keytone strips informed be that I was not longer in ketosis. That is when I start my dangerous thinking…since I messed up and am no longer in ketosis why not have something extra bad for lunch…might as well since it will take 3 days to get back into fat burning mode. Get those cravings out of the way right? Hmmmmm…what am I craving….mmmmm Dairy Queen nachos and a blizzard…yes! I shall have that for lunch! But wait curly frys from jack in the crack sound yummy too. So even after reading all your good advice I was still planning to cheat…really cheat!!!

I left for my lunch hour and drove to dairy queen and then past it to a clothing store…I spent my lunch hour trying on clothes instead and then back to the office where I ate tuna and cucumbers. Yea for me! And the best part is that my ketone strips are already pink again! So I know tonight when I do day 4 of my slim in 6 dvds I will be burning fat and not my lunch from 2 days ago. I am not saying I will never have a blizzard again but I will definitely reach my goal weight and move through every rung this time before I indulge myself. I want to know the exhilaration of reaching my goal and keep it off!

So starting Monday I am planning on doing a squeaky clean 2 weeks (bye bye shakes, diet dps, and extra cheese) and then moving to owl…I was going to wait till I reached goal weight first but I think I will benefit more from doing this plan the right way instead of my ½ a$$ed I want results now approach.

Thanks Joy for the response and information.

I will definately get this sweet tooth of mine under control. Its been 48 years in the making though so I know it can't happen over night. But, I'm determined.

I am already taking L-Glutamine, but in a pill form. I will buy some of the powdered form to have around and mix as you said when I get that sweet craving. Hopefully soon, I won't have that problem.

I'm not familiar with 4C brand drink mix as I'm up north here in Canada. Any Canadians know of an equivilent to this?

Thanks again to you all....members of this board are GREAT!

Everyone...I'm checking in again only because I have a STRONG URGE for pizza!!! I'm STRESSED and TIRED and the temptation is about to kill me!!! lol It really hits me now how the decisions I make about food are related to my emotions!!

My son (almost 5 months) is having a hard time today, he's been crying non stop and I had to stop dinner prep. at least 4 times. I think he's teething, and he just won't sleep...he's had maybe a 20 minute nap ALL day!! My husband comes home from a long 10 day business trip tomorrow, and I'm worried about his flight (I always worry that there is gonna be a plane crash) I have had slight chest cramp and I don't know if it's my muscles from working out too hard last night or anxiety...maybe it's a little of both?

I WILL NOT ORDER PIZZA, I WILL NOT ORDER PIZZA. HAHA!! It's not worth the hard work I've done the past few days to go and ruin it over something I'll have eaten in 20 minutes.
