    Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Hi all, this is my fifth day back on Induction and so far so good. The last two times I came back to Atkins (I never really leave but I get really sloppy with my carbs) my weight loss was slow, l mean mind bogglingly, sloth slow. But this time around I have been doing a much cleaner Induction--no convincing myself a little of this or that wouldn't hurt-- and I am down 5 pounds already. Last time it took a month to get this far. Hoping to make it until the end of March on Induction to give me a really strong start.

Tonight was scrambled eggs with cauliflower mixed in. It was so good. I can't get over how good it was. Oh, and some bacon. Yummm.

Carolina Pride bacon has no sugar. Has nitrates but I figure I've eaten enough of them in 38 years that a few more won't matter.

          Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Chinadoll-I'm with you on that! I did a sloppy induction last time around and lost only 5 lbs. in a month & a half! Ugh! This time it's a clean induction & I bought some ketostix to test whether or not I'm in ketosis. Last time around my friend bought them & let me have a few & I never got into ketosis, but this time I'm there! What a huge difference a clean induction makes!

I started out drinking decaf coffee this time also, but slowly went to 1/2 decaf 1/2 regular to keep sane! LOL! I'm hoping the caffeine doesn't stall me in any way. I'm also eating regular cheese this time around, & not lower fat versions. And, well, it really is working for me. Reading the book is so very key. I also find a website called SugarFreeSheila.com to help. She has a lot of great info., is a proponent of Atkins only & doing it by the book is the only way, & has some great induction friendly recipes she shares. Not to mention- to see her progress & maintenance is hugely motivating! I highly reccommend checking it out!

Ok, well, I hope you all have a great day!

              Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Hi all. I started back on induction yesterday and today I'm down 3.5 lbs. I've been on pre-maintenance for months and have been losing very slowly. Then when I had the flu, I gained 3lbs. so now I'm back on track.

Yesterday I ate just under 1200 calories and 16 carbs. I will work on getting the calories up to around 1400 today because I don't want to get into starvation mode by eating too little.

For breakfast today, I had 3 Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links (no nitrites) and a stalk of celery. For lunch, I'm making chicken salad wrapped in lettuce leaves and supper will be pork chops with salad.

I hope all of you have a nice, legal day. We all just need to keep the faith.

                Re: STAC Inductioneers!

                Morning everyone!

I'm on Day 5 here, & still in ketosis. Gotta love those ketostix to keep you in line! Yesterday I went over the 20 carbs...grrrr. It's the heavy cream I use for my tea & coffee...I like it light. Oh, & probably the splenda i use to sweeten when I cook...like diced tomatoes, home made whipped cream & of course in my tea & coffee. I will try harder to day to keep it closer to 20. I"m not going to get on the scale until Monday morning- my official one week.

Just curious, & maybe I missed it in the book, but how long do we stay in ketosis? Just during induction...?

Thanks all & have a great day!

                    Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Hey everyone...I'm still around...just about done with my 2 weeks of induction. Monday is the official weigh in day...then I start climbing that ladder! Wohoo! I'm not sure where to get MORE veggies in...maybe I'll add some greenbeans or spinach. I'm not a huge veggie fan. I do love spaghetti squash but it's so expensive! I've often wished I had just planted my own vine of those babies...but I'm no gardner!

                    Started: 3/2/09

                    ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

                    Realistic Final Goal: 190
                    Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

                      Morning everyone!

Week 1 of induction done! Down 7 lbs. in the first week. I've been eating clean, have remained steadily in ketosis, & have been exercising 5-6 days a week w/ cardio & strength training. Trying new recipes has definitely kept me from getting bored or falling off the wagon. I even went to a birthday party Saturday & stayed away from New Haven Italian pastry shop cookies! That...was not easy! LOL Good luck this week everyone!

Congratulations, Heather! That rocks! I'd keep right on with that heavy cream if you're getting those kind of results!!

                          Thanks, Kelly!

What a difference it makes doing a clean induction; however, I have gone over my carb intake 4 out of the 7 days...only at 30 carbs those days & just a couple of times went over the 3 TB limit on the cream. I also have to get my salad dressing portions into check. Oh, last night out of sheer weakness, my sister's b/f wanted McDonald's & I ended up getting 2 double cheeseburgs off the $1 menu- no buns, no ketchup...how bad is that...? Does anyone know? (PS-They tasted dee-lish! I have horrible guilt!)

I wouldn't feel guilty. I don't do McDonalds but I occasionally will eat the double stacks at Wendys with no bun and no ketchup. They are wonderful.
