    Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Ok, Steady, we'll just have to wait and see what next Sunday holds for you... Now, will you weigh again in a couple of days or do you do a weekly weigh in?

How much do you think it would've been had the water not shown up????

      Re: STAC Inductioneers!

You guys are doing so great! Thanks for the inspiration!

      Started: 3/2/09

      ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

      Realistic Final Goal: 190
      Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

OK, Crissyrenee, if you buckle down and do it, you'll be real glad at the end of your second week.

            Re: STAC Inductioneers!

            Hello All!
I am officially donning the label of a STACer, although I've never left the Atkins plan. I'm doing a second round of Induction because I went to maintenance (and have actually maintained nicely for about 6 months), but NEVER reached my goal and am still about 15 to 20 pounds overweight!!!

I think I stopped short of my goal because I was afaid to reach it and then realize that there would be no parade, I wouldn't win the lottery and that life would essentially be the same...except I'd be thinner.

This time around I am pushing myself to reach my goal weight and just get on with life. I don't need those extra pounds acting as a buffer between me and my full potential in life...which is exactly what weight is for me, a cushion that keeps me always at arms reach from living my best life.

Not this time!!! Induction day one starts tomorrow (with poached eggs and bacon for breakfast!). I will reach that goal weight and I hope you all will cheer me on and help, because I'm going to need it!!

            Thanks for listening everyone.

              Re: STAC Inductioneers!

welcome, krissy! I can relate to your post soooo well. except I have way further to go, but still!

so I think I messed up a bit today, hahahaha!!! I didn't pay attention to veggies. instead of 2 or less cups of salad veggies and 1 cup from the other list, I ended up having 1.5 cups from the OTHER list! oops! I thought, despite blogging my menus, that I'd thrown peppers into my omelet this morning, NOT tomatoes. aduh.

soooo maybe one more day of induction. but maybe not. I'll decide when I get up in the morning.

                Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Good morning! Weigh Day! I'm down Five Whole Pounds!!! I'm pretty impressed, especially with an imminent TOM!!!

Now, I've got to figure out that to do today. My "Life is Perfect" goal is 170-175 so I'm sure I really need to up my carbs and do this more slowly.

The "I'm getting ready for Spring Break" side of me wants to do a couple of more weeks of this and see what happens. The other side of me wants to up the carbs for more variety. We'll see.

(and, shhh, don't tell anybody but I have a Fifty/50 chocolate bar that I'm going to have a piece of later. No maltitol.)

                    Hey everyone!

I'm back after about 3 months. My sister & I were low carbing it together to get ready for vacation, but then my mom went into the hospital and passed away Dec. 9, 2008. In January I started the P90X program, which I LOVE! I turned 30 on Feb. 28, but now am looking to add a low carb WOE along with the P90X program. It does come w/ it's own meal guide, but I am thinking that Atkins may be best for me. I am also doing a very clean induction, unlike my last time around. I am not working hard just to fudge it up by being lazy. Anyways, it's good to be back. I love the support this site gives & how awesome & comitted you all are!

                      Re: STAC Inductioneers!

                      Hello,

Welcome to all the newcomers - crissyrenee, krissy, heather, focus (did I miss someone?). A nice, clean induction is good for the soul - oh, and the body too.

Kelly. Yes, I started induction at 192 and am now 185. I don't feel stable there though. I'm 5'9" so it does sound like we are pretty similar in stats. I'm happy with my 7 lbs loss though because I have been stuck at 190's for a couple of months. I need to get back to the gym tommorrow.

I know there were a few of us who started induction at the same time and now we're done. Are you guys going to stay on extended induction? or move on to OWL?

I'm thinking I'll stay on extended induction until our challenge is over (April 12) and then reconsider the decision again at that time. One reason is I don't have a lot of time right now to think through menus, choices, food freedom etc. BUT this was the reason for previous failure - boredom and lack of time put into moving through owl. I need fruit, nuts and yoghurt back in my life. But I think I can hold on until April as I said.

And you all? What are you thinking of doing re: continuing with extended induction or not?

                        Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Wow, peaceful, SEVEN pounds. That's huge!!! Congratulations!

And, you know, 185ish is the point where I start hemming and hawing around and lose my focus. Because 5'9 or5'10 and 185 looks great so I start negotiating with myself about further weight loss. Does that make sense? If not, it's early.

Our goals are way different though. I don't want to get anywhere near 150. I get to 170 and I look like a boy. No boobs and no butt. Just flat as a board in the front and in the back. Sigh.

So, because I am going on Spring Break on April 6 and going to coastal NC to see some friends that I haven't seen in a while, I think that I'm going to do an extended as I'd really like to lose 5-8 before then.

However, I will do my best to make sure that carbs are closer to 20 instead of 15 like they were these past two weeks.

Let's keep this thread going or start a new one??????

                          Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Hi all! Thank you for the welcome!

So, yesterday was Day 1, & closely counting my carbs, I ate about 32.55. How is it that people are eating 20 or less?? That was only 4 oz. of cheese all day, 3 cups of veggies & protein. Almost 5 carbs came from splenda...maybe I need to cut that down. Also, I used too much ranch dressing on my salad? 4 carbs worth... I'm going to restrict it more today, but will those 12 carbs really effect my progress do you think?

                          Thanks for the help!

                            Re: STAC Inductioneers!

Yeah, I'd probably give up the Splenda. Also, this time around for me, I cut my carbs from cheese back to 2/day instead of 4. I didn't really miss it and realized I was eating it because I could instead of because I was hungry for it.

Oh, and the salad dressing. You should be able to cut that out pretty easily, too. If you use Duke's mayo, it has 0 carbs and I just throw a big spoonful on top of my lettuce or veggies. Or 0 carb Caesar.

Mix the mayo up with Texas Pete or horseradish.

Horseradish is an ingredient in Whoosie Pie so I try to eat horseradish whenever I can.

I've moved on, but will probably have induction-level carb days here and there. i wanted to reintroduce nuts, particularly coconut (because I believe it's so good for you). so I have! we'll see how I go with it.

I'm still going to keep an eye on my cheese and cream intake, and keep those close to induction levels.

                                Hey all!

Day 3 here... & yesterday I watched my carbs even more closely & was only at 21 carbs for the whole day. Woohoo! I'm excited to be doing this clean and already seeing results. I think my working out by doing the P90X this time around also helps. And thank God I was fueled enough to do my Plyometrics work out last night which is extremely tough. I was worried about lacking energy for my workouts b/c they are so intenses, but so far so good. I'm sure my taking a multi-vitamin this time around also helps. Although, any secrets or advice from any athletes on Atkins would be awesome!

                                Have a great day everyone!
